I was totaly thinking about silent hill 2 but you allready said, with sh3 there is no proof. In sh2 james voice actor confirmed it as he talked to some devolopers and they said the in water ending was the most likley what would have happened.

Saw you playing MGS and knew you would say something about it in this thread

I always liked how Metal Gear Solid 2 just assumed that Snake failed at saving Meryl in MGS1. They never explicitly said it, but every single character from the original game is mentioned except her, and the fact that you're stuck with Otacon also gives the theory that she's dead much more strenght. Then, out of nowhere, she appeared in MGS4 like "hey there!".

For some reason, I never made that assumption. I always thought she just wasn't relevant in MGS2 and thus wasn't shown/mentioned at all.

Nope. Two Thrones takes on Warrior's Within perfect/secret ending, which is a good one.

Ohh. Only bad ending. No secret ending either.

Have I mis-understood InFAMOUS: Second Son or something?  I thought the whole point of the story was that it started due to the "bad" ending?

iirc, if you read the novel "In the Darkness of Shadow Moses" which was part of MGS2, that suggested that Meryl hadn't died.

(You had to go out of your way to read that, though - like you say, they tried their best to leave it ambiguous.  Worked for a lot of people too.  I was over the moon when I saw her in an MGS4 trailer because I hadn't read that novel at the time).

Technically megaman x5 had a bad ending that lead to the true canon Megaman zero, not x6 which copped out and revived zero.

Apparently, yeah, nothing was specified at all., as Zkuq never thought Meryl's fate was decided.

And yeah, you misunderstood Second Son (or Infamous 2's bad ending). The world would be drastically different with the evil route in Infamous 2.

Don't feel bad. Warrior's Within secret ending is probably one of the most hidden endings ever conceived. You have to unlock every single Fountain of Health in order to achieve it.

There was technically only one ending in the game itself (the good one), but Zelda: ALTTP is a follow on from OOT's hypothetical bad ending.

That's a good question, I really can't think of any. I think the Mass Effect series to a certain extend (for lost allies).

Dead Rising 2: Case West.

You would think that they took off from the best ending, Ending S! But noo, they chose Ending A instead.
