The PS4 and the 3DS are just fucking unstoppable...

Thanks! (It is always hard to explain your math calculations to others, thought that the jump to percent would make some people confused)

Yes, there are many ways these numbers are what they are, most probably they come from some statistical calculations from ioi:s personal database. I have never seen them explained or even discussed, but I could easily have missed the explanation.

I believe the Wii sort of tanked around 2011 (correct me if I am wrong).  I would assume that the ROW picked up a Wii between 2011-current as opposed to the PS3 and the XB360, which had longer shelf lives.

As stated previously, I believe price is a huge factor in determining when these consoles are purchased for the rest of world and I believe that the current prices for the PS3 and XB360, although still high, have come down considerably from the initial asking price.  The Wii started with a pricetag of $250 and can currently be bought for $100.

If you compound Wii's cheaper pricetag and its shorter shelf life, then that probably explains why the Wii has a lower percentage for the ROW at this current moment.

I looked up the indian amazon top list and there PS Vita is selling better than 3DS.  Xbox on top (360 and One)

They are simply the Kings of this Generation.

XBO outsell PS4 in UK... suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure.

Yeah, not happening. Numbers for EU are way too high for the Xone.

To think that someone is actually making money making these numbers up .. ioi, you are my hero.

Did the PS4 just beat the 3DS in Japan?... o.o

Ps4 keep going strong. Ps3 > Wii and psv (kinda sad)

New numbers to complain about. 50% ever so close.

If you want my opinion, Wii U and Vita are undertracked, and PS3 lettle over...

Edit in bold:  I fixed your math to make better sense.

I would assume that these other countries aren't as wealthy as NA, EU, and JP.  Therefore, you will likely see a larger spike towards the end of a console generation for the rest of the world than at the beginning.  Another factor would be the huge success of the Wii and the lackluster performance for the Wii U for these two numbers to be fairly close.

My proof that the rest of the world sells better for consoles at the end of the generation is shown with the PS3, XB360, and Wii sales over the PS4, XB1, and Wii U respectively.

EDIT: Put these percentages in order and you will see that Sony is on top and Nintendo is in the bottom. 3DS, at least, should sell OK outside NA/EU/JP, I would guess better than PS Vita.

PS3: 26.4%

PS Vita: 21.1%

PS4: 20.8%

XB360: 14.6%

XB1: 11.74%

3DS: 7.65%

Wii: 7.1%

Wii U: 6.9%

Ioi have explained the method to guesstimate row numbers.

Uses  difference from major regions from total, user accounts on the likes of psn, several correction factors, etc. Quite complex.

But PlayStation > Xbox > ninty in row is also a factor of presence, brand loyalty/image... Sony release ww, ms a little less because of their focus and ninty is the smaller because of issues with distribution coverage (not having the capilarity of eletronis, movies and os distributors).

Hope that helps a little.
