It should be legal. It's their decision to get into it.

no. Decriminalize, but don't legalize. The difference involves punishing the sex workers themselves. They should not be treated as criminals, because making them criminals makes them vulnerable to exploitation, because listening to their pimps or handlers is the only way to keep them out of jail. Legalizing, however, just normalizes it, and creates demand for more people to be pressured into the life. If there's a demand for prostitution, prostitution will be had, whether you need to groom vulnerable runaway children (which is where the slaves come from in first-world countries, usually), or smuggle in more people from abroad.

Punish the john (yes. Because without their money, there'd be no need for the trafficking and exploitation), and punish the pimp. Don't punish the prostitute, but don't encourage it, either.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I would legalize it and take it one step further. I'd construct a Registry for which all prospective clients must be part of prior to any contractual engagement with a prostitute. Indeed, prostitutes would be as legally required to refuse services to those not on it, much like how people are legally required to not sell alcohol to minors. All financial dealings the client has with prostitutes will be kept on record and regular STD testing would be required to maintain their license to procure. This way, should an infection ever occur, health officials would be able to quickly reach everyone potentially exposed.

Furthermore, should anyone mistreat one of the prostitutes, that prostitute would be freely able to flag their client's record and attach a negative review (i.e. violent, intimidating, etc.) which would warn other prostitutes to maybe refuse this individual's service. Depending on the severity or number of their infractions, not to mention violent or sexual crimes committed, the client's license could be revoked.

The online database would be maintained as an extension of public health services, not only requiring prospective clients to visit a Doctor or something to get on the Registry, but also to ensure the anonymity which health services already provides. You pay to get on the Registry and to remain on it, prostitutes get taxed appropriately, the increased revenue goes into the Health Care Budget. The money saved from enforcing criminalized prostitution goes into the Law Enforcement Budget.

im to young to answer this probably, but i relaly dont know if it should be legal. Maybe it should yeah, but i understand why its not legal though. Its a double edged sword in my opinion

Yep, and tax the hell out of it.

That's how we do it here in Germany.

@OP: Legal it would be more safe for the Prostitutes, as they can go to the police if they are victim to a crime without have to fear for being imprisoned or fined themself.

An online database containing data about all paid sexual activities? That would be a feast for hackers and blackmailers.

Yeah. People should be free to do what they choose to their body. If they want to have sex for money then why should I stop them?

There would be a host of problems associated with the legalization though. That may be another story.

prostitution will always be a thing and imo doesn't harm society in any way, so you might aswell make it legal and tax it like every other business

it's been legal here in germany since 2002

Since 2002? It's been legal at least since the end of WW2! The legislators called it "sittenwidrig" (immoral / indecent), but nevertheless it was legal.

I think since 2002 it is taxed and included in social security (health insurance, unemployment insurance, retirement insurance and so on). Could be wrong about the details though.

the public scrutinity of legalization will do more to address those issues than anything else and is the best reason to legalize it.  also most countries that legalize prostitution also put in place strong laws to make pimping illegal to ensure that kind of explotation doesn't exist.

Yes but with a caveat that it should be a regulated industry. But I would allow private interests to operate for profit rather than a government monopoly.

Too many women are abused when the act is considered criminal.
