I am really fond of the upgrades within the New 3DS and I am glad you are enjoying them too.
The only gripe I have is that the C-stick seems to sensitive in Ironfall. I have not replayed Resident Evil Revelations yet, so I will have to withhold judgement on whether the C-stick works well or not with shooters.
On the other hand it works fantastic for camera control in Majora's Mask and Monster Hunter Ultimate 3 & 4.

Flickering? As in brightness changing?

If so I had the same 'problem'. I found out it is the screen's Auto Brightness which can be turned off.
