“By way of announcing its next console already its kind of admitted the Wii U is a failure at this point. I think it will abandon the Wii U fairly soon.”

Sure, they only said they will announce a new console next year, without telling us if it was a handheld or home console or it's release date. this must totally mean it's a wii u replacement and that they are abandoning wii u, even though the worst case scenario still gives wii u a 4 year life span, wich is only slightly shorter than standard.

rolls eye.

Amazing how anyone can be called an "expert" these days and spout this kind of nonsense.

I'm from the UK, and trust me no one takes the BBC seriously. They're not the pillar of quality impartial t.v journalism they like to make the world think they are. I only watch the independent channels for my news. The only BBC I watch is a monthly Astronomy show on their documentary channel.

I don't take anything from fan blogs like "mynintendonews" seriously, but it doesn't take a Zelda delay to realize that Nintendo would obviously drop the Wii U prematurely.

Say what you will, but I enjoy Guy Cocker.

4 years of actual support isn't that premature anyway. The N64 really only was supported from 1996-2000 and that sold 33 million units.

It makes me wonder how much of an expert you really are if you're claiming the Wii U has sold nowhere near what the XboxOne has. Sure, the Microsoft's console is selling a lot faster, but a difference isn't more than a couple of million (so far).

When that difference is separated by an extra year on the market, then yes, the Wii U really has sold no where near what the PS4 and XBO have.

Silly analyst. He conveniently glosses over XCX and Star Fox. I'm seriously hoping that Nintendo builds a fantastic hype train around it. Star Fox deserves it.

It's not selling as fast, that's sure. Otherwise - I agree to disagree :)

BBC business reporters team meeting:

Manager, "Hey we need someone who can talk about the video games industry."

Team, "really?" "yeah." "I guess" "ummmmm" "good idea boss"

Manager, *looks at Guy, who said good idea* "What do you know about video games?"

Guy, "Errrr...well...my Nephew like something called 'a Minecraft'"

Manager, "Right, you're our resident BBC video games expert, You've got 2 days to learn everything you can and start writing about it."

But in all seriousness, I think Nintendo threw the kitchen sink at Wii U last year (MK8 and SSB) and it hasn't paid off very well. That suggests to me that Nintendo are busy at the drawing board for the next console, and are planning to not release too many more games on Wii U. Enough to keep sales going at this level until the next Nintendo console is ready to go.
