like all games do.

From the response it was getting on forum sites, twitch streams and Youtube, I reckon that two day spike will actually bleed over a full week of hype. It might not sell as many as the first 2 days but it's going to sell more than is usual for the launch of a game.

People always say this too. Goes hand in hand with the constant "only been 48 hours" statement.

I just don't understand how people can think number 2 in the charts is "not what they expected" when the game at the top is a multi platform game taking combined sales for its total and its still a very recent one at that. Granted, certain "exclusive" titles may well have topped multi platform games before but Bloodborne is not a Last Of Us or whatever else which ships literally millions in its first week. If people have said they expected Bloodborne to do that then in fairness, thats pretty deluded. Its a "taste" game, not a mainstream "everyone can play" game. UK wise, I think its hit the charts pretty much as expected.

They may well always say it, and it may well always go hand in hand with 'only been 48 hours', but Bloodborne HAS been getting more and more hype and I've never seen a game get the levels of hype 'from the public' that Bloodborne is getting. The first two days are nothing compared to the weeks sales of Bloodborne.

It's still at #2 for a reason: http://www.amazon.com/best-sellers-video-games/zgbs/videogames/ref=zg_bsar_tab_t_bs

You've never seen a game get this level of hype...really?

And the 1st 2 days aren't nothing compared to the weeks sales. There will be a drop.

No, I haven't. It's sitting at #2 on Amazon for a very good reason and that reason is 'fan' hype. Two days does not represent the sales of Bloodborne. If it did then it wouldn't be sitting in exactly the same place it was when it launched.

Its still sitting at Number 1 in Amazon UK so yes, its still not doing what I'd call "Badly" lol

But anyway, to keep more on topic, like I said a few pages back, this won't beat Halos first weeks sales.  And most people would agree that that is the case.  But like I also said, Bloodborne, as great as it is, isn't going to be a massive multi million seller game, no matter what.  But the people who do play it, won't care one jot about that.  I think if it sells over 2 million in its lifetime, it's done very well.

To be fair, I agree.  I do think it is the kind of genre and game that drops slower.  Games like FPS have huge opening and then drop steeply.  I think Bloodborne will be more steady than that for the first few weeks.

Yeah, that's how I see it. Of course it will see a drop from the opening two days but it won't be as big as usual and it will sustain sales for much longer. For instance, Youtube playthroughs are getting the same level of trafic as TLOU.

I know that 2 days doesn't represent this games sales. Barely any game is represented by the 1st 2 days. But its very unlikely that the 2nd week will be higher than those 2 days. That's fine that the game will have legs but games drop after the first week. It happens.
