Do you like 60 fps?

60? No no no, I play at 120! 1 3.23%

All games should be 60 fps! 8 25.81%

I prefer 60, but I'll to... 12 38.71%

Meh, I'm just fine with 30. 7 22.58%

Human eye can't see past 24 fps, bruh. 3 9.68%

Total:31

So I recently downloaded patch 2.50 for PS4 and 3.50 for Vita, which allows you to increase the framerate of Remote Play to 60 fps (up from the standard 30 fps). I've been playing around with it over the weekend, and it's just great!

Unfortunately, most console games these days are 30 fps anyway, so the number of games that benefit from this at all are somewhat limited. But one game that gets a huge improvement from this framerate boost is Resogun.

Due to Resogun being a fast-paced shmup, I consider the game unplayable at 30 fps, which is why I don't recommend the PS3 or Vita versions of the game. But thanks to these new updates, playing Resogun on Vita with Remote Play is actually better than playing the Vita version natively! (This is also partly due to the PS3/Vita versions being un-updated and lacking the DLC from the PS4 version, but anyway...)

I now realize just how long I've been missing out on what Nvidia Shield users have had all this time... Maybe I should get one of those, too?

Like the WiiU gamepad since day 1. But everyone hates it :(

I tried some Driveclub RP with the new patch and 30fps games seemed to have way less lag now aswell - before it felt pretty much unplayable to me as someone who platinumed the game.

edit:

Had another try with it now that the android version for any device is out (I mainly use RP on my tablet - DS4 is connected directly to the PS4) and it works really well. Resogun worked like a charm and even in Driveclub I can almost reach my best lap times in Performance class, might still have some issues on Super/Hyper class though.

It is great on the Wii U as well, very smooth. But the Wii U only does it through direct connection, so you have to be close to the console anyway. Remote Play on Vita and the Nvidia Shield work over the network, giving greater range within the home, as well as working over the internet.

Wii U pad is heavier, has worse battery and screen quality. But hey it's free with the Wii U, so Nintendo beat Sony in that regard.

Except the Wii U gamepad screen is not OLED and looks terrible

New Vitas don't have OLED screens, either.

Let you in on a little secret, the actual refresh rate of the WiiU gamepad's LCD is 50hz, to accomodate both ntsc and pal regions with the same panel.

So lower framerate is bad with shmups but lag is alright? Even <10ms is going to kill you and also makes other games unplayable. Don't tell me there's no lag when playing over networks. I can't even stand playing on projectors with their off-timing.

That's interesting. So the game is still running at 60, your inputs are still that responsive, but the screen itself only reflects 50 frames per second? Basically the problem is with the GamePad, not the system, right?
