Forums - Gaming Discussion - My TV died, need a replacement, what brands are good these days?

Had a TCL that lasted me 4.5 years, but it developed some mild burn-in lines in the last year before dying tonight.

I am looking for good image quality and low latency, but price is also a factor as I'm on a budget. (I probably shouldn't spend more than $600 AUD)

32" will suffice, as my old one was satisfactory at that size.

Anyone in the know?

Samsung and LG are reliable.

Get Samsung curved tv

Sony makes the televisions with the lowest input lag (yes, they do). Which is the thing you care the most in gaming, obviously taking a good image as a given. There is a database with a rating for input lag and links to Amazon. You can also query it if you find a model that seems good to you:

I did find this, 1080p/42" for $400 AUD, but I'm a little suspicious of low quality since its competitors of the same size and resolution all seem to be priced higher...

I've got a Sony KDL-32W705, it has around 14-15ms input lag (measured, not manufacturer's data) and is synchronous with the Wii U GamePad. Full 4:4:4 in game mode is important, too.

And it's nice that the TV is pretty small due to the small borders.

The 706 is the same model in silver as far as I know.

Do yourself a favor and DONT BUY THAT CRAP.

Sony makes the best televisions if you want to enjoy all purposes, including gaming. Their active 3D isn't the best though unless you want to have passive with 4k. But that is expensive. However I don't think 3D is a major selling point anymore so go with Sony.

When i bought my 47" LG 3D Smart Tv a few years ago, I actually ended up getting a bigger and more expensive tv than i originally planned on. I just couldn't pass up getting a better tv, with 2 years same as cash, from Amazon. I ended up paying it off in well under 2 years though.
