Why not at least show the game at E3, have a story trailer, something ... anything ... the reason is the game's development is now being tailored to the NX and they can't very well show it before they show the NX platform itself (which isn't going to happen at E3 I guess). 

This is Twilight Princess all over again. 

Now Nintendo also has a pretty big launch title for the NX platform IMO ... whatever that is. Heck EAD Tokyo could also have a new 3D Mario also ready for a late 2016-ish launch. 

Nintendo is probably taking steps now to make sure the NX isn't a repeat of the poor 3DS and Wii U launches, that means they could very well be loading the deck, perhaps they feel like NX is an all-or-nothing bet ... they can't have another slow starting console and are going to throw everything and the kitchen sink at this. 

You have to admit with Zelda potentially at launch ... basically they're pretty much set for a good launch.

I don't even think the next home console will be released in 2016. My guess is that the NX is the next handheld.

Would be a decent reason for early NX sales to Nintendo people. They could and likely will re release all wiiu games on it at a cheaper price. X could be cross platform not to piss of wiiu owner of to much.

The smoking gun is the lack of a trailer or anything at E3 2015. C'mon ... there's absolutely no reason not to have a small trailer at least, even one that revolves around the story for a game that's been in development for almost 4 years and that they've already shown with two previous trailers/gameplay demos.

They will unveil NX IMO sometime in early 2016 (allowing New 3DS and Wii U to have this holiday season) and announce that they've "magically discovered new wonderful gameplay elements" on the NX platform.

That will piss a lot of people off. This isn't like the GCN. The Wii U doesn't have a proper Zelda.

Or Mario. Or Metroid. Or anything hardcore, first party, and single player only.

Even if it is a handheld by 2016, mobile tech will have caught up to the Wii U making a NX version of this Zelda game more than possible. 

The Apple A9 processor that's probably coming at the end of this year will probably exceed the PS3/360 level consoles.

Well the Wii U is selling even worse than the GameCube. 

And it does have Hyrule Warriors and Zelda: WWHD at least. I still think there probably will be a Wii U version of this Zelda too ... it will just be on the NX too and the NX version (like Twilight Princess on Wii) will be the one that they focus on.
