Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo needs a Direct, N- Oh, wait. Never mind.

Direct confirmed for April first. The rumor had the date right, guess we'll see if it had anything else right. It's posted on NOA's twitter.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

I still think it's some kind of April Fool's joke on Nintendo's part. I mean, come on, April 1st? That's such a suspicious date..

It is April 2nd in Japan, Australia and most of Europe

Yep Nintendo's Twitter says:

"Catch a new Nintendo Direct on April 1 at 3pm PT for the latest upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games. Stick around after the Direct for a live Nintendo Treehouse presentation featuring one of our spring releases. Don't let the date fool you:

This Nintendo Direct is no joke!"

Either way. Still only one more day for all of those people. I'm going to miss out on it anyway, I have to work >_<

Probably more Treehouse on Splatoon I bet, which is only a good thing. They need to really push this game because it can totally re-define the genre.

Splatoon is a good bet for sure. I don't know if I'd agree it can define the genre, but it's a breath of fresh air, mixing Platformer mechanics with shooting and art. If anything I'd say it does it's own thing, rather than just changing one specific genre.

Nintendo definitely needs to push Splatoon hard. I think it could become their next big game, doing what Mario Kart did for the Platform/Shooter/Artistic area. Most people will probably see it as Nintendo's shooter, which they could focus in on and try to market the Characters in the game, like they have Mario.

I'm glad Nintendo worded that tweet like they did, because it doesn't rule out them announcing new games or basically covering all  of the games they currently have announced for 2015 and the spring releases can be focused in the Treehouse bit of the presentation. I'm looking forward to seeing this.

Agreed.
It is a disgusting way to treat your paying customers; keep them in the dark for months with only B-list scraps to sustain them, then delay their most anticipated game without so much as a Direct to cushion the blow.
We don't have a single solid release date from them right now, not one.
I am very rapidly losing patience with Nintendo, they have pushed their luck too far.

This is where I was headed until I heard the rumor that a Direct was on the way. Now we know that the date, at least, was legit.

If the rest of the leak turns out to be true, Nintendo will have earned some serious points back. If they reveal some games for 2016 at this year's E3 ("Prime 4") so that we know that this isn't the last year of Wii U support, then they will be wholly square with me again.

This Direct (and E3) would have to be pretty spectacular for me to entirely forgive them, but it's possible.

Localizing Fatal Frame, an ambitious new game from Retro, and a bunch of release dates that they subsequently stick to would do it. Oh, and Xenoblade releasing in PAL at the same time as NA.

And in the Direct they will say that Zelda delay was a joke. A bad fat joke. I can feel it. Nintenlame.
