3D Zeldas are ALWAYS delayed a year from their originally announced date (I'm not kidding, every single one has been) so Zelda U's delay is pretty much a moot point.  If you didn't expect it, you don't know history. Please don't try and say that 2014 was actually its original release date either, since that was pure fan rumor. Nintendo never gave any indicator of a 2014 release.

So excluding the typical Zelda delay then Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong, and XCX are the only notable delays. The rest were either not that big of games that many people cared about or not that big of delays. Overall, I'd say Wii U has been pretty normal in the delay department, especially for a Nintendo console. It's hardly the king of delays. Besides, Nintendo told us like 2 years ago how surprisingly difficult they found the HD transition to be, so they're still just getting the hang of it all.

Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker weren't delayed.

Yes they were. MM was originally announced as an OoT expansion called Zelda: Gaiden and planned for '99. TWW's original release date in both Japan and NA was '02, and while it barely made that in Japan it was delayed to '03 for everywhere else. Had Nintendo decided to finish the two dungeons that were still being worked on in TWW and never saw release, it would have been a typical year delay. But that was one of the rare occurences they didn't opt for a big delay to finish a Zelda game.

In the case of Zelda Gaiden, they have to delay because the N64DD never made the overseas.

And with TWW, they actually needed more time but at least they released in the promise date. This one is not going to be released in 2015 even in Japan.

I think the reason this is being taken the most harshly is because Zelda was one of the titles teased at the reveal of the actual console, virtually 4 years ago now.

Was touted as being 1080p then, too.

Really shouldn't dangle the carrot and expect people to "please be excited" 4 years later when you tell them "another year!"

Also I get the feeling curl is starting to resent Nintendo a little.

Your feeling is correct.

Meh you Wii U kids got nothing on us N64 old fogies. We know the meaning of delays.

Let's have a look at just how many first party games have been pushed back on the system...

- Pikmin 3

- The Wonderful 101 (Not Nintendo developed, but Nintendo published)

- Wii Party U

- Wii Fit U

- Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze

- Xenoblade Chronicles X

- Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (In PAL)

- Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (In PAL)

- Zelda

This recent Zelda delay is not a freak occurence, it is the norm for Nintendo on Wii U.

This is nothing compared to Nintendo and Rare's N64 games. Those games were often delayed for years at a time. Some of them if not a lot of them were scrapped and restarted during their development cycle.

You should come to the dark side.

i.e. any system, even nintendo systems the same as or older than the wii. basically, anything but the wiiU, really.

At least until next year.

To my extreme frustration, the household PS3 and 360 are non-functional at present, victims of my little brother pulling them apart to "fix" them. It sucks, I've really been craving to revisit stuff like Bioshock Infinite, Vanquish, Dead Space, etc. At least we've agreed that since he broke them, he has to replace them, but lord know when that will be as he is chronically broke.

I've been hitting the Wii recently, replaying stuff like Galaxy 2 and World at War to take the edge off. I overdid it a bit with Monster Hunter 4 and I'm taking a break from it.

If only my computer had more rendering power than a cucumber... XD

get someone with a decent pc and connection to family-share their account with you and then stream play their games.

On Wii, mostly.
I just don't remember it being nearly this bad.
