Let's have a look at just how many first party games have been pushed back on the system...

- Pikmin 3

- The Wonderful 101 (Not Nintendo developed, but Nintendo published)

- Wii Party U

- Wii Fit U

- Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze

- Xenoblade Chronicles X

- Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (In PAL)

- Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (In PAL)

- Zelda

This recent Zelda delay is not a freak occurence, it is the norm for Nintendo on Wii U.

On the up side, each and every one of those are ultra solid titles. I mean nearly bug free (at least the ones released) and are fairly high caibur as well. No 20-40GB patch downloads for any of them :P.

Very true, and commendable in the age of Assassin's Creed Unity, Driveclub, and Master Chief Collection. I just wish it didn't come at the cost of delay after delay.

I agree, but I'm sorta happy to be able to not have to choose between this and X for what I want to put my spare time into lol.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

In retrospec, all these games turned out to be great(well except shoveware wii fit and party). Delays have been worth it. They just fucking suck.

Yeah, the games themselves were amazing, but the droughts have crippled the system since day 1.

Not technically delayed I don't think, but probably later than a lot expected.  Was just 2014 for a while, then Japan got narrowed down to summer 2014.  Released in Japan with a few days left of summer to spare.

1st year line up might have been ok if they stayed on schedule. Killed the Wii U momentum. They turned out great, but at a price that ruined the Wii U potential. Very depressing, but I'm happy Nintendo cares about quality. I just hope they learn from there mistakes and learn to plan better.

Even after the first year, whenever Wii U starts to build momentum, a drought comes along and kills it. If you eliminate the delays it may actually have been able to outsell the Gamecube.

Yeah that's what I thought. Never technically switched dates though, so I think it's deserving of the "Never Delayed" title.

I like Wii Fit. It works exactly as it should. I'm not sure why you say that's shovelware.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

There are some major differences:

a) The game should've been released by 2014 anyway
b) The game was already delayed
c) It's been 4 years since the console launched.
d) Wii U needed something for holiday 2015

Huge differences. This delay either screams incompetence (can't get it done on time) or competence (launch title for NX).

Wii series just feels like shovelware now. I guess I'm a bit bias. It probably did everything that was expected of it.

Probably just a matter of perspective.

The original teaser was released in 2014, it said nothing about it being released in 2014. There wasn't a delay till now. It has been 3 years since launch of the system, actually only 2 years 5 months, far cry from 4 years. There are still a few games scheduled to come out this year, Xenoblade should be fairly big, of course not as big as Zelda though.
