A long development cycle doesn't mean a good game. Skyward Sword had a long development cycle and that is the worst game I ever played.
Give Zelda to Retro Studios, at least they don't take 6 years to make a game.

Retro Studios is too busy making Metroid.
I am excited by what this new experience they stumbled upon is. I hope its not code name for new console / better hardware lol

They're probably making something grand as Captain Toad 2.

Hey! Don't knock CT, it was a great game.
Anyways, I highly doubt they would work on another platformer-type game directly after DKCR and DKCRTF. I'd put my money on either Metroid or a new IP. I have a feeling they'll be present in some fashion at E3 this year, considering they stopped developing Tropical Freeze at the end of 2013.

They only announce their games the year they're released, I doubt they'll be at E3.

If Nintendo feels inclined to drop a bomb at E3 to restore consumer confidence after Zelda's delay, I'm sure they would push Retro to at least tease something at E3. They don't even have to show gameplay, just flash a Metroid logo, a small cutscene and a date and the hype would be insane.

That worked out great for Yoshi's Woolly World, Shin Megami-Tensei x Fire Emblem, xbx (which we all know will be delayed in Europe) and Zelda U I must say...

Yeah, but it's likely those games had literally just started development when they were announced (possible that SMTxFE hadn't even started). On the flip side, Retro has had about a year and a half (more by the time E3 rolls around) to get something together, and let's say the game has a 3 year dev cycle (not uncommon for Metroid Prime games especially) then that would only put it a year and a half from release at the time of its reveal. Not as bad as the aforementioned games.
We've gotten Mm3d, Oot3d, windwaker hd, hyrule warriors, and a link between world's in the last 3-4 years. I'm totally fine with Zelda U taking longer to come out. This is the. Year of Xenoblade, anyway. I'm so pumped for xenoblade on n3ds and x on Wii u!
