However, Nintendo's track record alone is enough to quantify that no book maker on the planet would have given odds on for a 2015 release of Zelda. Hence why so many of us were so confident to say this would be coming out 2016 best case scenario.

I think for most people a 2015 release was expected, simply because they need a huge hit for 2015 holiday season. For 2013 they at least had Mario and 2014 Smash Bros.

A 2016 release date means it's an NX title AFAIC.

Only if the console version of NX releases next year.

That means Xenoblade Chronicles X will most likely be GOTY. :D

Bloodborne probably got that spot on lockdown...

I doubt Bloodborne will beat Xenoblade. Sorry haha

How did you come up with 2 years?

Twilight Princess released in 2006. Skyward Sword in 201.

Correct me if I am wrong on any of these, I am going merely by memory:

NES release date (USA): 1985. The Legend of Zelda release date: 1986

SNES release date: 1991. A Link to the Past release date: 1992

N64 release date: 1996. Ocarina of Time: 1998

GameCube: 2001. Wind Waker: 2003 (early)

Wii: 2006. Twilight Princess: 2006 (launch title)

So 4 years is way too long for a Zelda game. To me it's clear that this is an NX launch title or first year title for the NX. No other explanation. No other explanation would even be acceptable as far as I am concerned.

Except that NX isnt guaranteed a home console or NX is coming out 2016 or if LoZ U is coming out for it.

Also what gives you the right to say Zelda is suppose to come out within 4 years of release of a console? Be happy the LoZ franchise actually gets releases, there are many franchises that barely even get 1 game, Zelda has gotten a couple remakes, 1 new game, and huge spin off so far.

What really makes me livid is that Zelda U was announced right off the heels of this:

"Don't want to leave a long gap between announcement/release of new game types that would lessen the impact or allow competitors to copy." - Iwata

Fuck. Off.

They also said they wanted to cut developement time from 5 down to 3 years, guess what 2011 to 2016 is 5 years. Fuck you nintendo!

They didn't start development of Zelda Wii U until begining of 2013 if I remember correctly. In 2011, when they showed off the Wii U, the clip of Link fighting a boss was a tech demo.

I misinterpreted your post. But I still think Zelda will release in 2016 and don't think NX will release until at least 2017 if it's a succesor to Wii U.

I expect the new mario to be the big launch title for NX

A Zelda coming out for a Nintendo console shouldn't be commended; it should be expected.

A November 2015 release date was pushing it as it is, but a November 2016 release date? The Wii U has failed to surpass even Dreamcast numbers so far. The Wii U won't even exist by then most likely.

NX console is likely to release in 2016 with either Zelda as a launch title for launch window. This is deja vu. Launching the Wii with Twilight Princess was a stroke of genius.

Nintendo has admitted they are struggling with HD development. This is a reason for many of the delays/drought. If this is the case with Zelda it would be such an embarrassment I wouldn't even acknowledge Nintendo's existence anymore. Imagine in 2015 they delayed a game because HD coding was difficult.

Good call by Nintendo I think to delay it for a few months. By the time the game comes around say 3 months later than planned, the install base of the Wii U will be higher than if it was released at the end of 2015 which should enable Nintendo to shift a few dozen more copies..

Yeah no problem, I misinterpreted yours too. I think 2016 would be perfect to release the NX. I'll tell you why.

I can not see Nintendo release Zelda on the Wii U in 2016. It's the same thing they did with Twilight Princess. In 2005 they delayed it a year. TP is the second biggest Zelda of all time and the most hyped Zelda of all time, and being a Wii launch title helped that a lot.

Zelda would be perfect to launch the new NX with.

No!
