I thought we were building walls... not bridges.

Man, that's really expensive. Like really fucking expensive. Also how does Trans-Eurasian Belt Development turn into TEPR?

the same way that the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) is CCCP in Russian,.. Сою́з Сове́тских Социалисти́ческих Респу́блик

Won't happen because humanity sucks in the macro scale unfortunately. Also, if it did, it would be the biggest terrorist target ever.

It's a road. Most of which would go through the middle of no where. Really can't see that being high on a terrorist hit list. They like attacking busy populated areas and Siberia is neither.

Well, the part of it that would bridge Alaska to Russia would be ripe pickings though, and what I was specifically talking about. If would be like being able to successfully strike the Panama canal. There have been terrorist threats and plots against a number of infrastructure targets, and a landmark like this would be certainly tempting.

i hope not, they should make it an autobahn, driving just 120mp/h would suck on a straight road without much traffic...

Crossing the bering sea would be very difficult and, really, the most useful part of that project. I do wonder how they'd divvy up the costs, though, as much of it seems to just be an awesome new high quality highway for Russia lol

But yeah, many of the communities in Alaska and Canada are isolated, so this could be useful for them as well... It's just so darn expensive and difficult to construct specifically across the Bering straits that I don't see it happening anytime soon.
