You know, up here in Canada

That was not Runa's point, though. His point is discrimmination against gays in Canada is not as large of an issue as in America.

"We all get along despite our many, many different cultures and natures. it's just not a thing up here. "

Obviously this is not true if there are anti-LGBT murders and beatings.

So you're more focused on that one particular phrase instead of understanding the point of Runa's entire comment...

No the entire theme of Runa's comment was that Canada and Northern Europe are the greatest and all people will live happy lives with no predjudices here, and the "stupid country" (his words) that is the United States is so much worse in comparison. I disagree with that, and replied with Canada isn't perfect either. His post wasn't even about discrimination. Re-read it. "There is no racism, no sexism, and there is nothing which is in the way of religious intolerance." Obviously this isn't representative for all of Canada outside his workspace, just like the United States isn't represented by the bible belt.

No, the entire theme is that the amount of discimmination is significantly less in Canada and Northern Europe than in the US. Doesn't necessarily mean that those regions are bereft of it, but compared to the US, much much less.

And I actually kinda agree with his "stupid country" statement.

Doesn't surprise me one bit that a republican politician put in legislation to give business owners the right to discriminate against gays.

If you're gay and you still vote republican you're a freaking moron. The republican party use to be an amazing party too that fought for people (pre civil rights era) but now as of late it feels like they hate women, gays, blacks, muslims, latinos. lol

The republican party is a joke in current form, a bunch of bible thumping morons. What the heck happened to the party? It's so sad to see how far the republican party has fallen.

I've seen you state many times that you agree with the decision but never have you stated why and even after you said that you were done with replying you came back with other statements simply stating how much you are happy with the decision. I'd like you to elaborate on why you hold your position because right now I'm inclined to believe you're doing it just to get a rise out of people (which would be flamebaiting).

I will admit it was some portion of flamebait in my comment which occured by mistake. But I do agree with the actions of the governer. Maybe the way it was expressed wasnt appropiate. Sorry for that. Thanks.

Then I'll ask you to refrain from posting any further if you're not interested in going into the details of why you agree. Should you want to expand, feel free to keep posting.

Can you substantiate your claim. I already substantiated my mine with actual quotes. He said nothing about discrimination and had huge blanket statements like "all" and "no."

@ Bolded, similar ignorance that racist/homophobes use.

He's saying for lack of a better word "Karma". He wants you to understand what its like to be in his shoes. Most people are blind to their beliefs until they have reality step in.

Western world learned the word "karma" a few decades ago, when we are using this word for thousands of years. Lol. As for the "impact" of the word, I dont care. Because its not applicable for me. I havent done anything bad for anyone.

just the idea that there are people like you that will cheer and celebrate at the idea a business can publically humiliate me by turning me away from a restaurant of whatever just because of my sexaul orientation has almost brought me to tear today.

america was built on the idea of freedom from discrimination.  we established the freedom of reglion specifically to allow people to practice their own religious ideas without fear of persecution to escape an age where people were litterally murdered for having a faith in a god that wasn't 100% aligned with someone elses religion beliefs.   and since those first days america has grown better and better expanding those grand ideas to not allow persecution based on race or gender.

..but now you want to twist freedom of relgion to mean you should be allowed to persecute based on sexual orientation.   this is soo fundamentally unamerican.  you are taking for granted all the freedoms so many people fought and died for.  frankly, it is fundamentally unchristian too.  you can cling selectively to the the portions of  leviticus you want to believe to damn others while choosing to ignore the bits that apply to your life but christ came to set a better example of peace and love and forgiveness.  some day i hope you learn that message too.

i'm confident in the end america will adopt policies that extend the current freedoms religion, race, and gender to sexual orientation.  i'm confident that history will judge you just as wrong as the previous religious extreemist that used the bible to argue that women and blacks are worth less in the eyes of god.  i'm confident that america will choose to enforce policies that celebrate acceptance and tolerance over policies of hatred and bigotry.  i just hope somewhere along the way you learn to appreciate those freedoms and fight to protect them not dismantle them.
