Forums - Gaming Discussion - The lastest PC exclusive was...

OP, did you do this just so we could list off a whole bunch of exclusives recently released?

I mean, you literally couldn't have picked a worse time to make this thread than on the day Pillars of Eternity released.

I came in to write the exact same thing; what a mindblowing title. Been playing it for a few hours between bouts of work this weekend.

Skyrim.

No, seriously, it's so much better on PC that it might as well be an exclusive.

Is there anything that's not better on PC though?

Is there anything not infested with bugs on PC?

And Skyrim is as boring as bingo night at a retirement home. Could be a Morrorwind graphics mod.

Please don't start a PC vs Console war

What the hell are you talking about? I play mainly on PC. And that since 15 years. That is why i can't understand all this praising. Steam is overflowing with trash, cheap trash. The few worthwhile exclusives are low budget and don't even come close to fully utilizing my aged PC. The retrogressivness becomes increasingly annoying. Game mechanics don't get explained or simple obvious game mechanics are missing. It feels like going ever backwards. Now and then some standard PC-franchise gets a new iteration (like StarCraft) and thats about it. No new milestones since almost a decade. Games are riddled with bugs, it takes month till even major bugs are finally fixed. Until the next Update/DLC ... coming with new or even the same bugs ... which of course takes another months till those are fixed. And this is supposed to be "next-gen"-gaming? This is the demanding "glorious PC master race"? Don't make me laugh.

Hunting Season is done...

steam does have a lot of crap on nowdays, i agree there.

Anno 2070
Age of Wonders III
Archeage
Cities Skylines
Crusader Kings 2
Civilization 5: Brave New World
Company of heroes 2
Dota 2
Elite Dangerous
The Elder Scrolls Online
Europe Universalis 4
Endless legends
Grey Goo
Guild Wars 2
Minecraft (The version that you can actually mod, 5x better than the console versions)
Planetary Annihalation
Path of Exile
Robocraft
Simcity
Starbound
The Sims 4
The Stanley Parable
Total War: Rome II
Total War: Atilla
Track Mania 2
Torchlight 2
World of Warcaft: Warlords of Draenor
Warlock II
War of the Roses
WildStar

All released in the last couple of years..... did you even try OP? PC has more exclusives than the consoles by far, if you like Strategy and MMO's it's the place to be. I use consoles for anything that isn't exclusive though because I don't find PC gaming as relaxing.

Read OP again, clearly a joke thread.

Steam does have a lot of trash content thanks to their low bar for quality control of any sort. But there are still plenty of good exclusives on the platform and plenty of games that have high end graphics options for PC and plenty of stable releases.

I agree, great game from what I've played so far.

True, the different perception comes from two things: lower dev costs and no royalties allow more crappy games to exist and survive on PC (and in the same way on Android too) than on other platforms, while lower budgets and generally lower reatail prices give the highest quality games lower marketing budgets. But lower costs also allow high quality games to exist on PC even with lower sales than on consoles. In the end it's almost impossible that a platform with more than 100M gamers, be it a console or PC (that has a lot more gamers than the already large number of Steam ones), not receive high quality games besides the mass of lower quality ones.

I've actually died several times in my first 4-5 hours of playing; I was shocked to find a title that is actually challenging. Great remindes of how it was back in the day, the BG games were also brutal when they came, the only reason they're not as challenging today is because I've played them so many times and know all the tricks.

The first pack of wild beasts I came upon in Pillars killed me; some boars, they ripped me to shreds in seconds and it made me smile.

a friend and i are arguing right now and i'm basically accerting that PC is the "red headed step child" of gaming and developers ignore or shit on the platform. i brought up how "graphic superiority" is meaningless as no games in the last maybe 10 years actually do any optimization for PC. it shows games like watch dogs which had the advanced features removed from the pc release to pc releases are basically all hamstrung by consoles anyways.   i brought up how the biggest games in the industry release late if ever.   it show in games like GTA V which was late then delayed and then delayed again while consoles got 2 releases,.. last and current gens.

now i want to bring up how pc doesn't get any "exclusives".  i can acknowledge that PC get's 1000s of exclusives from developers that have to beg kickstarter for the means to finish their pet projects that turn out to be about as good as the trash on mobile,... i'm not counting those.  those are trash.

what was the last PC AAA exclusive that is actually worth playing before i potentially go and make an ass of myself?  i've been checking out the lists of "best pc exclusives" and all i'm seeing is games i've never heard of or games that aren't pc exclusive anymore because they've already launched on consoles.

the last one i can come up with is starcraft II back in 2010.   has PC received any exclusive worth mentioning since then?

You spelled WiiU wrong. :)

Divinity Original sin comes to mind. But thats probably not the last since I am only buying games as bargains so I have no idea about anything releasing within the last year. (I usually buy games 1 or 2 years later so I save 90% of the money.)

Yeah challenging is a good description.I'm playing through on hard, overall still a little easier than BG1 early game though.
