Forums - Gaming Discussion - Cities Skylines: Post your cities and updates!

Available on: Steam/PC
Price: 29.99 regular edition/39.99 premium edition

I definitely suggest getting this game if you are into city builders. It's one of the best "cims" in a long time, and thankfully way better than anything sim city had. Notable differences is the lack of terraforming, weather, and disasters. But to compensate, it has some amazing improvements. Road infrastructure is amazing. Circular and curved roads make this game very pleasing to the eye. It's a bit easy once you get your economy going, but Paradox knows you're not playing for the crazy challenge. You're playing because you like building a city.

As far as sim-type games go, and city builders, I'd give it a 8.8-9.1. There are some improvements that could be made, but all in all it's very solid. I honestly can't wait to see what they do next in terms of infrastructure.

Anyway, post your screenshots, ask questions, talk about the game, etc.

I still have to buy the game, but with almost every review praising it, just like most users, I'm sure I'll get it sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, I'm replaying SimCity 4.

How is it? Are the problems that I've read about (traffic, trash, deceased) as big as they say?

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

This game just shows how EA was stupid handling SimCity 2013 and how these guys used the opportunity to, maybe, steal the city simulation crown from SimCity. It's a studio with 9 guys.

traffic is a bit stupid, trash works fine and deceased people arent a problem if you build the right buildings.

the game isnt as easy as simcity.  you have too build a working city or you will have a baaad time

The deceased problem is caused by everyone dying at once 6-7 years after a population boom. There is a mod on Steam Workshop that fixes it and makes people have reasonable (80-95 years) lifespans, or you can build an awful ton of deathcare facilities to handle it when it comes up. Garbage... no problem at all. Traffic is... eh. Cars have this stupid habit of driving on the same lane even though there is 3-6 of them available. But that will be eventually fixed I guess.

Will get on this in a sec.

Pro tip: You need more waste management than you'd think.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Thanks for your replies guys.

Paradox did the right thing when they decided to make the game mod friendly. +22,000 objects on the workshop as of now, that's amazing.

YaY for this thread! I want to see those cities, Maybe I´ll post some pics later too. Love this game *_*

A sugestion, put some photos on the OP, so the people can see how beautifull this game looks.

Loving this game.

The City of New Taco (the old city of Taco didn't work out so well):

With the hud:

Currently at around 11,000 citizens and growing fast. The traffic isn't too bad, but it was starting to get annoying. I'll be redoing my road and bus systems next update.

The new part of town with all of it's tall buildings:

The skate park:

Meanwhile the old part of town is starting to get fancy with solar panels and the likes:

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.

Cool thread! I'll have to get on with my City so I can share it here!

Glad it's not just me struggling with the traffic, I thought it was just my piss poor road planning... though that said, that probably doesn't help!
