Forums - Gaming Discussion - PlayStation 4 Price Cut In Canada

When all the retailers where clearing the unity bundles for XB1, I was able to pick it up for 350CN$ (someone broke into my house and well took no interest in anything much, didn't take any money, but smashed the Xbox)! Few windows where broken, no biggy I mean but that Xbox was from Day 1. Anyway I got one for 350$, and it was a steal!

Please...

It's a good deal for people in the US but still terrible for people in Canada.

Maybe, but I don't blame the companies, I blame the Canadian dolloar for losing so much value over past year.

In 2013 it was ~1:1 with US and prices reflected that, now it is ~1.25:1 and prices reflect that as well.  What happens to imports under a weakened currency. On the plus side your exporting companies in Canada have to be loving it right now while ours are hurting. All depends on where in the economy you fall how you feel about your currency's evaluation.

Yea I'm quite furious but I guess it's still better than how it was in the 90s (video games use to be around $100 a pop).  $399 was the canadian launch price but due to our dollar the price jumped to $449, but now its going back down oddly since doing the conversion of PS4 being $399US should come to like $500 canadian.

Good luck! If the XB1 is 400$ and the PS4 is 500$ (Microsoft would hold their group for as long as possible), Canadian's will jump to the best deal. Now with the price cut it'll help them a lot!

XB1 is currently on sale for $349CAD while PS4 will be on sale for $399CAD.  I'm not sure if $50 savings will actually temp Canadians to go for the cheaper console especially with the momentum PS4 is having.  Also there were countless times the Wii U skylander bundle was at $199CAD (suppose to be the 'sweet' spot) yet hardly anybody bought them.  I don't think price difference between competitors plays a big factor as much as people think amymore.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Extra taxes is the reason for the inflated prices, I take it?

Its cause our dollar is going down the shitter.

LOL! But no I think they realized I didn't have much (I was away by the way so all my cash and cards where with me). So they decided to smash my house up. It cost me a couple grand to fix everything they damaged or broke. But I think they where eventually caught, so at least they'll be spending time in prison.

Exactly. There is no mass import tax unlike in the UK. Its just our currency is crap.

Which is due in part by the fall of oil prices and the "recovery" of the USA economy. Also I wouldn't say in the shitter, USD was in the shitter when it was on par with us.

Lmao

The thing I don't get is oil prices are starting to go back up but the dollar just keeps dropping.
