I look forward to seeing what Rare puts out. Hope we get a good showing from them at Microsoft's E3 conference.

I guess I am one of those people who needs to be surprised. Its better in my stance of lowered expectations so that I could be blown away when everything comes at E3. Heh

Hmm, we'll see how things will turn out once a Rare game gets shown at E3!

Well, Bungie had to purchase their freedom, but I do agree that it was nice for MS to allow them to go away if that's what they wanted, given that it was their primary team, Turn 10 aside.

Using this logic, it kinda shocks me that Kinect games were Rare's goal all this time, without MS's pressure behind them. Shocker, considering the quality of most of those.

Most of the Rare talent went to other places before Microsoft acquired them. So rare was already a shadow of its former shelf before purchase. And they did made a game that sold well in kinect. MS gave them freedom. There is no doubt about it.

That is a myth for the most part. In the late 90's, Rare lost key members of the Goldeneye team during Perfect Dark's development which is why it took so long for Perfect Dark to be released. Those were the guys who founded Free Radical. Perfect Dark still turned out to be a damn good game though. The Donkey Kong/Banjo team was still intact as well as the team behind Conker by the time the buyout took place.

If less freedom was what they needed to make better games, then Microsoft needs to become a dictator with them.

At this point I don't think it would help, the people who made 1990s Rare great are mostly long gone.

I know, it was a joke. LOL

So they chose to go from making games like Goldeneye and Banjo to make Kinect Sports games.

Hmmmm

I've read multiple times that Rare never wanted to make GoldenEye originally.
