Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Splatoon won’t have any voice chat support

You should watch the interview Pro Jared did and hear the guy's justification as to why it won't be in there. I don't know whether to laugh or pity them.

Well that guy is from the Treehouse, whose job is to translate and market the games, not make them. So in a case where he is asked to explain a seemingly detrimental design choice made by someone else, I think pity would be the more appropriate response.

^This.

the justification for why there is no VC is laughable. And then people wonder why Nintendo isnt taken serioulsy in the console space by a lot of people. stop the excuses they dont help Ninty, at the very least hold them to the CURRENT standards.

You dont like VC fine, certain games have crappy communities not to entrhalled by teh COD one, thats why we have mute. But to not even have the OPTION is ass backwards, period.

I read all about the hype of Splatoon and then headed over to youtube to see what the fuss was about. Came away thinking it looked pretty awful and not something that will hold people's interest for long.

It's great that there is an exclusive on wii u that has so much hype but not for me.

If its aimed at young players though I really think voice chat should not be available and this is probably Nintendo's thinking too. Nintendo like to cultivate a kid friendly image for their products.

Good, voice chat gets abused

For any that really want it get skype/facetime, no excuses

You get paired with 7 random players, how are you suppose to skype with your teammates? add new people every games?
In case you didn't know, you can't queue a game with people on your friend list, it's all random match making

Wait.. You cant queue with friends? If thats true then for sure not buying it, whole reason the game looked fun was to play with friends not randoms..

This is just inexcusable. I get that Nintendo wants to focus on local multiplayer, and, in an industry dominated by the impersonality and anonymity of online gaming, I applaud that. But if your studio is making an online, team-based, tactical shooter, then that game better have support for voice chat. How are online players going to communicate and coordinate in Splatoon?

This really is a bone-headed decision. And it makes me far less interested in Splatoon.

Good no need to listen to kids like in all the GTA5 or COD matches I played.

Adults use third party solutions anyway :)

how can there be a third party solution if the game isnt programmed to use VC at all?

so how would that work? would they have there computer on with Skype logged in while playing the Wii U game? and even then arent you just talking to one person? Maybe that person doesnt have skype. I thought it would just be a bunch of randoms, how would you get their skype info? see how stupid this all is?
