Isn't that just a similar uniform?

I put Bloodborne down a bit, but will likely resume this week. I've done just about everything I can before Rom.

A tip: Rom is weak to bolt attacks

as JGarret has said he's weak to lightning, so make sure you have the tonitrus to a good level(or just carry lightning paper) also attack its sides and for extra caution kill most if not all the spiders(also attack them from the sides)

Finished it today, really really disappointed in the number of NPC's, how short the NPC quest-lines are, and the fact that there are only 2 'roaming' NPC's.

Overall the bosses are kinda meh, outside of the last 2 bosses, which are truly epic (granted the setting helps a LOT), I just kinda wish that Gehrman wasn't parry-able, as I love to parry too much, but it makes it an easy fight, even with parrying, Gehrman is still a better fight than Gwyn was, yet not as good as False King Allant. The only main game (I've not played very much of the Chalice Dungeon's yet) boss that was truly difficult was Ebriatas, Daughter of the Cosmos, mostly due to her charging attacks that are horrendous to dodge, and then how much her lazers hurt, which are also painful to dodge. The only other notable bosses are Vicar Amelia (she hits very very hard, and some of her stuff is hard to dodge) and the Blood Starved Beast, because of it's bullshit poison aura, and you're very unlikely to have enough poison resistance by the time you fight it, meaning if you get caught by one of its combo's without monstrous health by that point you're going to be wrecked and won't be able to recover and pop a vial before the poison gets you.

Ultimately nothing in this game comes close to the masterpiece bosses that are the False King, Astraea, Maneaters, Flamelurker, Capra, Sith or O&S (having said that Nostalgia might be playing a part in Meaneaters and Flamelurker, not fought them in a while, and even longer since I've fought Flamelurker without magic), which is a real shame after the disappointment that was the bosses in Dark Souls 2 (Darklurker aside, but one boss out of 30+ is really really bad haha)

The great things about this game is the atmosphere and the level design, for me that's on a whole new level compared to prior games, even if it does end up a bit dreary with all the grey, brown and black (the woods were a massive missed opportunity for me, could have easily been split into two with a boss in the middle of it all, and then they could have also added more colour to the area by adding glowing florescent plants and other stuff like that, adding a bit more of a high fantasy side to the game, as that's also the area where 'kin' first start appearing (IIRC)). My favourite areas were pre-blood-moon Yahar'gul (Yahar'gul in general was pretty great, crap final boss aside, just pre-moon is just amazing), Cainhurst and Hemwick at sunset was particularly great (again shame about the boss). Didn't like the woods or Byrgenworth at all, I've already mentioned I felt that the woods were a missed opportunity, and Byrgenworth should have been the Anor Londo moment of the game, a really really difficult complex area with an awesome boss, a twist in the story, and a bit of dialog to help explain shit (as if you're not paying attention to the lore and the notes, which are both easy to miss and hard to piece together stuff at this point will start making very little sense, if they still did already)

Overall the atmosphere and level design are the best between Demon's and Dark souls (1, 2 is utter wank, and shouldn't exist as it is), the bosses are weaker and the story is far far weaker than it's kin, also From, where the fuck is my Moonlight Greatsword, been playing with that greatness since Kings field, I want my Moonlight greatness :'(

Edit: For a normal games standard 9.5/10, from a FromSoft standard 7/10.

Edit 2: Both the nightmare areas also sucked because of the Frenzy in Mensis and the combination of Poison and Frenzy in parts of Frontier, and Poison in general in Frontier, just urgh at both of those levels.

I found Ebrietas easy even on the chalice. The difficulty all depends on who's playing. The bosses aren't supposed to be stupid difficult because the game is fair, you hit hard and the bosses hit hard, that's hit. Even Amygdala in the chalices (arguably the hardest boss of all) is fair and doesn't use any kind of cheat against you. Actually most people use a cheap tactic against her instead of fighting her fairly.

I didn't find lack of color in Bloodborne, maybe it was your tv setting? Anyway, never played the other Souls, but started Dark Souls 1 after Bloodborne and passed the second boss without dying apart from trying to defeat those strong tall knights.

It's all different perspectives, everybody will find different bosses to be either easier or harder than the 'average', as different play styles hold well for different bosses, and badly for others. Most people I've spoken to found Ebrietas very difficult due to her charges and lazer beams. Having said that a LOT of people found Father G hard, but for me he's the easiest 'proper' boss in the game, as he is so easy to parry bait, and has very little health/defence. The harded bosses are Bloodletting-beast and Cursed Watchdog fights, they're brutal. I think Amy is kinda easy, just stay under her the entire time.

By lack of colour, what I mean by that is that it's most dull, Mensis is almost exclusively shades of gray, with some red thrown in (Mother brain Frenzy, Shadows fire) and very little else. It just wears thin, especially with the chalice dungeons too.

The start of Dark Souls is so easy if you take the correct path, you should have tried going down into the catacombs, that would have been fun for you :p

Maybe, but I like to think of it as too fucked up to be a coincidence.

It is true, different play styles will lead to very different experiences. Maybe I felt a bit weird when I was able to defeat bosses in one try, although they were few, in the story mode. Maybe I expected something in the level of the beggining of the game, where it was so frustrating. I have to really play the other Souls to understand if Bloodborne is "easier" or not. About Amygdala, I tried two times to stay under her, but I just felt completely out of control of the situation, I couldn't see where she was landing, so I decided to face her head on, took some time but it was worth it.

I understand your complaint about the colors, but I just love the design and the lore so much that maybe I am a bit biased :) but I agree with the Forbidden Forest thing, should have had a boss somewhere in the middle.

I went to the catacombs but I guessed I wasn't supposed to in the start. I am not saying DS1 is easy of course, it is just as manageable and rewarding as Bloodborne, and I just love the shortcuts thing. And actually I am not very excited for DS2 because of the lack of shortcuts that I heard of.

Honestly It's kinda hard for me to describe difficulty in the games due to how much time I put into the past games, especially as Bloodborne is pretty much perfectly tailored to my playstyle, where as if I were a tank type character in the past I'd have really struggled. Amy always jumps forwards with a slight turn, so just walk a little bit towards where her tail was, wait till she lands, and go get back under and whack her arms a bit.

I was more referencing to the first time I played the game and got hopelessly stuck in the Catacombs for like 5/6 hours right at the start, it was so horrendous haha made the rest of the game for a while really easy tho. DS2 is a good game by other game standards, but very poor in terms of Fromsoft games, and there are only really a few areas i really love. But it's got so much content, so that's why I'll be re-buying it for the PS4 in a few months time when used disks are going for ~15 quid or so.
