Forums - Sony Discussion - Why do so some gamers have a problem with God Of War III: Remastered?

Making and HD remake of and HD game really doesn't seem necessary. To me it seems pointless. I'd rather see remakes of NON HD games instead. Good example: DuckTales

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

What about people that couldn't play it originally?

PS3's are pretty cheap on Ebay. Back when in 1994, if someone wanted to play the first Metroid, they didn't bitch because their SNES didn't have a remaster of it. They either bought an old NES and a copy, or they didn't play it.

We wanted new games back then. Between 1985 and 1990, we got three completely new, mainline Mario games. Between 1987 and 1993, we got six Megaman games within seven years lol. Gamers USE to demand brand new games. You don't even have to go back that far either. Back when the PS2 launched, what were the huge games we got in YEAR ONE. MGS2, GTA3, FFX, SH2, GT3, Onimusha, Twisted Metal Black, THPS3... no remasters, no remakes.

That's how it use to be before these companies realized they could make bank off the ignorance of millennials. I am well aware that I sound like that "old guy", and maybe that's the case. Maybe it's just a case of shifting trends and early 20 somethings/teenagers enjoying playing old games on new consoles. I'm fine with that. But I personally don't like it. I would much rather play brand new games with new story lines that I don't know the endings to. Even if I hadn't played them, I STILL wouldn't approve because they're old tech. I don't know about you but buying a new console, imo, should be about playing next gen games. Not old gen games with slightly better resolutions.

Yes, its building up hype, but if they wanted to give people new to sony consoles a introduction to the franchise, why start with the third in the trilogy? Sounds like the GoWIV would be a better point of entry for people who haven't played the previous installments.

Because God of War IV isn't out yet let alone announced.  GoW:A was a prequel and to me, and it makes so much more sense to release GoW3 over Ascension because

  • GoW 3 is a core game
  • Sold better, recieved much better acclaim than ascension
  • Better story, will leave better impression on new players leading into IV
  • The story will actually flow from 3 to IV.

I think you are 100% correct.

All signs point to GoW IV being a big E3 reveal. And GOWIII:R coming out in July will help to garner excitement for the game (guessing holiday season release).

Again, my complaint isn't the game releasing per se, it's the price/lack of content  compared to previous GoW collections and their prices. Regardless, I think it's a great move to get the hype going and for those who are new Sony fans to get into the series before the IV hits the market.

I mean, yeah... they could've included more. Hard to disagree with that.

I don't own a PS4, but my reasoning for hating this is there are too many remastered games. WAY TOO MANY. It's BS at this point.

But why do you care what happens on a platform you don't own and don't plan to, it won't make any different for you.  The ones that should be compaining are xbox/ps owners since they are the one with a lot of remasters on their consoles.

You're comparing a deal on a late life bundle with a first port to PS4.  You definitely did not get GoW 1, 2, 3, etc. bundled for $29.99 in the 2nd year of the PS3.

If you like the games, then you should look forward to eventually getting this GoW III bundled with other games for cheap, a few years from now.

As far as I know, the game is still God of War III. It's still the exact same content that we've seen on the PS3. And yet it's double the price of a previous collection that includes four other full games.

If you're okay with paying double the amount for 1/5 the content, then go for it. That's certainly your right. I just see the deal of the century for 17 bucks vs. one remastered game for 40 bucks.

It's like Nintendo putting out Metroid Prime 3: Remastered for $40, when the Metroid Prime Trilogy is right there for $20. Just doesn't make much sense to me.

Different console, so that deal is not there for someone who doesn't have a PS3.

But my point was, I look forward to getting this game on PS4 for much less in the future.  The price will drop quickly (unlike say Wind Waker HD), and Sony will likely give this away with PS+ and/or bundle with the next GoW game on PS4.

IMO one of the worst arguments here.  You're comparing a deal on a late life bundle with a first port to PS4.  You definitely did not get GoW 1, 2, 3, etc. bundled for $29.99 in the 2nd year of the PS3.

If you like the games, and would like a big bundle, then you should look forward to eventually getting this GoW III bundled with other games for cheap, a few years from now.  The first step is for Sony to get the games ported / remastered.

But before God of war 3 came out they did release the collection of 1 and 2 Yes they didn't have the psp games remastered but at the point there had only been chains of Olympus. Right now they could have done more games. Geek even if they only did the games that hadn't been remastered on the ps3 there woulda have been ascension as well.

I don't get this either. Why do you care if the game was released before? If you think the game is good and if you haven't play it before, the game is NEW for you.

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

Well, from gauging the poll, most people don't have a problem with it. So once again, its just a vocal few.

Because a lot of people already owned PS3 games & PC games(for ultra setting). And people want actual REMAKE games like Resident Evil from PS1 to GCN that's almost 6 years later, unlike GOW 3 remastered, you see... Remastered is just a tuned up resolution, texture & frame per second on newer console same polygons same maps. Look at Devil May Cry 4 for PS3, it was flawless... Running HD resolution at 60fps just blew my mind, & then it's coming for PS4, what's the point of that? ....Remastered games aren't counting, sorry.

I understand why developers disappointed on last gen consoles due to limitation hardware & even customers disappointed on next gen consoles due to lack of backward compatibility(Such chaos..... xD)

Because it's not going to release on the Xbox One.

Or the Wii U, or the 3DS, or PC.

It being a ps4 exclusive is a big reason.

The other big reason from ps4 owners is the fact they don't like god of war so jump on the hate train. However if their favourite ps3 game got a remaster they'd be rejoicing.
