Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Santa Monica Has No Plans for More God of War PS4 Remasters; Explains Why Remasters Are Made

If you think that the PS4 remaster of God of War III might open the door from more ports of the old adventures of Kratos to the PS4, Sony Santa Monica Community Strategist Aaron Kaufmanmentioned that there are no plans for those on the comments of a PlayStation Blog post.

No plans for others in the franchise to bring over.

Since many are still quite resistant to the idea of remasters, Kaufman also explained the studio’s stance on why they are made:

We hear you and that’s OK, remasters often help us open the door to new players who perhaps did not play God of War 3 5yrs ago, but who we can bring it to on the PlayStation 4. People often forget, the more players we can bring into a franchise, the better for everyone. At Santa Monica Studio, we’d like as many PlayStation fans to experience our games as possible, form generation to generation.

About God of War III: Remastered, looks like we can expect great things:

July 14th isn’t that far away, it’s smoooooooth.

What about the studio’s new project on PS4? As usual, Patience is the key:

Beef wellington is awesome, fine food takes patience.

We are working on a PlayStation 4 project, we’ve stated that publicly, we hear you loud and clear.

Why would a new person to the GOW series play 3 first. That's the whole confusing matter with this.

#1 & 2 were on PS2, ya? Methinks this another attempt at selling a PS3 game to 360 converts, specifically those that played the early games but missed out on 3.

wouldn't it bring more players in if it had 1,2 and 3 why would i want to jump in at the end of the trilogy

Still don't understand why only make a GOW3 port if they want to introduce new players to the franchise. Port the whole saga then.

You know what else opens up those doors? Backwards compatibility.

Bingo! I'll never understand why people get so angry at remasters. You're not obligated to play. The argument I hate is "Why do studios do this when they can work on something new?" As if studios devote all their manpower to one game at a time.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

Let them play 3 remastered, and 1&2 if they are interested on PS Now. One way to build the userbase for that service.
BTW; How are the numbers for it? Anybody using it in here. Pros, Cons?

I think a previous poster explained it very clearly and concisely.

Well why not make 1+2 +ascension , or just make it God of War collection and rendered all with 1080p 60fps with PS2 games total make over like MCC, in one disc?
