Sony has been doing some shady stuff this gen, but it doesn't matter because sony will always be defended. No matter how unpopular it may be in a different region, the ones that do have the game should be able to play longer than 1 year.

Agreed, the better solution would be to just not bother releasing the game in that region in the first place. Not worth the hassle. Not entirely sure what other "shady stuff" they've been doing this gen though.

Didn't they lied about Killzone Shadow Falls resolution in multiplayer?

Proud to be a Californian.

You want to play Driveclub, buy the full version that demo we promised is cancelled. This type of stuff would be unacceptable for anyone else.

Delaying or even cancelling a DEMO is unacceptable? Lol...... that's hillarious.

See what I mean always defended. Imagine MSFT canceled the free version of FH2-Fast and Furious and decided to charge up front instead of after April 10, MSFT would be blasted for it.

PS sony used the free version of Driveclub as a selling point of ps+ then decided not to release the ps+ version,  Yes that is unacceptable.

Such is the cons of dedicated servers. Eventually this will happen to all of our favorite games

Eventually isn't usually... 1 year after launch, though.

And it doesn't have to be the case anymore. If they start using a cloud solution, they can just continually reduce resources allotted to games, rather than phasing them out. (Especially phasing them out too soon)

Its just forcing purchase of the new game.

^  There is your reason.  Way too early to do this and if EA did this with games like Fifa and Madden  people would be going rampant.

At least its just europe though where its weak anyways

that. That's a surprising decision, and it's weird to see this is the only annual game affected. The game probably just flopped hard in eu and there are not enough people playing online to justify the server cost anymore.

Full games get cancelled all the time is that deemed unacceptable? No it's just a thing that happens in this industry. If cancelling a demo is unacceptable then I don't even....

Also the FH2 thing you mentioned is completely different. They'd be taking something they were going to give for free (for the first month) and making you pay for it, PlayStation were never going to give Driveclub for free, they were going to give a demo. DriveClub PS+ edition doesn't exist anymore, FH2 F&F in your given scenario would still exist.

it wasnt just a demo...

this presentation and promise was a lie.

Game Demo Definition - "A game demo is a freely distributed piece of an upcoming or recently released video game. Demos are typically released by the game's publisher to help consumers get a feel of the game before deciding whether to buy the full version."

That's exactly what Driveclub PS+ edition was. It's Driveclub with heavily stripped back content. Last I checked something that's a stripped down version of a full retail title is referred to as a demo.

It doesn't matter how you dress it up.

1. Too early to close down. But I doubt anyone outside USA actually purchases this game. Let alone online play.2
2. To anti-Sony people: Please stop derailing the thread. We get it you dont like Sony. So please start talking about the topic.

Meh.. who likes baseball anyway... yes i'm anti baseball.. hows that for an even more childish post then the rest of you.. in your face!

Two comments, people will yes indeed defend sony. Use this thread as an example. Sony can do no wrong it seems.

Second to all people who are using the whole who plays outside of the USA, that is absolutely bs, so you are saying even those 1000 purchases of a game outside its key territory should be screwed? (I'm not even gonna comment on the amount of Americans are abroad in Army bases that actually play games like MLB, Madden etc.)

Given I should add, if this is acceptable behavior so be it. I will use the logic if it doesn't effect me, I really should not care. Infact I wouldn't care otherwise, until I saw so many people defending this move.

Also Add: But hey if you speak out, you are anti-sony Kowen. I should wear a T-Shirt saying I'm Anti-Sony, Anti-Microsoft (Given I don't get to comment on them as much, because I will not buy Xbox One) and Anti-Nintendo after this month.
