I wonder what games he's talking about, because these are truly few and far between. Is he talking about Spec Ops The Line? Maybe Walking Dead? You know, games that looks at human behavior and asks certain questions about it? Or is he simply talking about the latest CoD or Madden?

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I would say the same for Sony. The main reason is that nowadays I can play 95% of PS4/PS3 catalogue in PC. The exclusives are not worth my money. PS4 only have my attention because of Bloodborne. But I don't pay 400€ for only one game I like. I loved PS2, and I still play it, because of its diverse and exclusive catalogue, but those times are long gone.

I don't think the reasons given here are the actual reasons. It probably has much more to do with either perceived image or to do with fitting in a narrow demographic. Claiming Nintendo is "stuck in the past," even now with the announcement they just made, is disingenuous. Nintendo definitely still is archaic in some ways, but that doesn't define Nintendo as a whole.

Indeed. The words of person determined to play the role of an adult but who's yet to discover what that actually means.

"Grown-up games", ha:)!

I'd argue game diversity gap between PS1 and N64 is greater than that between PS2 and GC. Did the N64 even have a single RPG?

Paper Mario popped up in my Mind almost immediatly

On topic: That's how I felt about the Playstation after it's second itineration, any every single Xbox. They feel like underpowered PC without their advantages, soulless, bland. If you're into something else than Action-adventures, Shooters, Sports Games or Racing Simulations, then literally 99.9% of the game lineup of all these consoles seems not to be for you. Their saving grace would have been JRPGs (the western RPGs are also available on my PC, which I prefer for that kind of games)... if they weren't so ridicilously hard to come by where I live.

Another "Im too mature to play Nintendo games from what I see of screenshots of their games" type guy.
They still exist. If you cant play games that doesn't have an M rating, then that's your problem. You will miss out on a lot of great games though.

That's not as sad as you might believe. They do the exactly same things each generation so how do they want to impress? You know: Mario kart, smash bros, zelda, 3d and 2d mario platformers etc over and over again for decades... :/

Grown up games? Is the writer 13 or something.

I'm pretty sure this is the same narrative with 95% of people in regards to Nintendo.

Thing is the problem is not as big as it looks. Back in the day you would associate Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider (lol) GTA, Tekken with Sony. Not to undermine Sonys first party output, but a lot positive associations with Playstation has nothing to with sonys actual offering but instead third parties who gave them exclusives. If Nintendo could tap into that 3rd party circle the same way MS did I think everyones image of them would greatly improve. That also means offering hardware on which these titles are appealing and I think that also references their more core IPs like Zelda and Metroid. Games which are underserved by recent Ninty hardware.

You're also right in saying there is an element of diversity that Nintendo are missing in their personal offerings. I hate to do the whole east and west thing, but they need some more western devs. Quality wise they're still shitting on everyone else though...

With what I played this Gen so far, no game company can impress me anymore :(
