Fair enough but I fail to see how this makes the system bland or soulless.

RPG is a broad genre. If you loved Xenoblade there is a fair chance you would've liked a few PS2 RPGs you probably didn't even hear of, let alone play. Though I understand that you're just speaking your experience.

The exclusives largely felt joyless to me, and the multplats were better on Xbox. Also as a console it didn't have a strong identity in my eyes; the PS1 was a bold, adventurous portal into a brand new world of 3D gaming, even the PS3 was a majestic juggernaught of larger-than-life epics. But the PS2? I struggle to find any memorable moments of my time with it. It was like a downgraded Xbox without Halo. And yeah, I'm speaking from experience, I kind of have to, since there's not a system on the planet where I have played its entire library, haha.

Well I for one wouldn't bash a console based on experience alone. I'll have to make sure I at least played 50-75% of its highly regarded games before I judge. And by played, I mean spending a good amount of time to have a valid opinion about that game.

If you ate a slice of pizza and it tasted off, would you eat the rest of the pizza? 50-75% of PS2's library would consume a lot of my time and energy, and evidence thus far indicates it would be wasted. I've played most of its highest rated and praised titles, the majority let me down.

How was the gamecube a dissapointment? it got plenty of multi plats in the beginning espacially from western devolopers? And it got some good mature exclusives like resident evil the best looking game in this generation. It was the best nintendo console ever made.
Thats the way nintendo should go and stick with it, evetually their consoles would sell. Their problem is this whole changing around every new generation with new consoles, you never sure what you get with nintendo which scares a lot of people off

it got plenty of multi plats, maybe for a nintendo console but still lacking compared to competition.

Yeah but the other consoles lacked the nintendo exclusives and certain exclsuives like resi 1 and 0 who were the best looking games in that generation. Imagine if the wiiu would have bloodborne and uncharted 4, a decent amount of multiplats and the nintendo games. Thats how the gamecube was.

Article from a PS site about not liking Nintendo? Say it ain't so.

Sounds like something I would say about a small developer or a group of designers that disappointed time and time again. Not the PS2 (or any console for the matter), which is merely a medium that welcomes all the various developers and publishers alike. The game's quality is irrelevant to the console it's being made for.

Games of a certain era and console tend to have similar trends and styles. Those of the 6th gen do not appeal to me much, even GCN and Xbox didn't do much for me, and they at least had the likes of Halo and Metroid to hold back the tide of third party mediocrity.

Mature game or grown up games= Games children should not be playing because it is not age appropriate but somehow are still playing and are the reason those games sell like amazingly well.

Word. XD

Take away the 10-16 crowd and watch sales of COD and GTA plummet.

Exactly.
