Forums - Gaming Discussion - If You are a Fan of Traditional Final Fantsay... GET TYPE-0!

I was iffy on the game after the opening segmant (linear fights one after another) but once you finish it and go to your "base" I saw the light.

1. It has bird' eye view overworld with random encounters and chocobos. Their are dozens of towns, they resemble on the world map what they used to look like in FF 4.

2. Combat is not tradition as in NES and SNES, but it is very fun. The open field fights are great with no camera issues, fighting in tight cooridors requires getting used to it.

3. Each character is unique as has a specific skill set that works in different situations. You have 12 and they only gain exp in combat so you will learn to use them all. You fight with 3 at a time, if one gets KO'd you can bring in any other the other 9. It is game over if the 3 active are dead so you have to think quick in some cases.

4. I am playing on Officer (normal) and it is not hard. I do not recommend Cadet as it would be too easy. I have not tried Agito (hard) so no comment.

5. At 1st the graphics being dated bothered me (I had just been playing FF XV demo) but after an hour I did not even notice it.

6. If this game was directed by the guy who is now in charge of FF XV my hype has just gone up even more, he just "gets" Final Fantasy. It is my 1st Tabata directed game (did not have a PSP so never played Crisis Core).

Either way it is such a pleasent suprise. I literally jumped out of my chair and yelled "Fuck yes" when I walked out of the "base" to find myself in an old school overworld. I really had no idea what I was getting into with game. I wanted the demo and IGN, Gamespot, and Gametrailers all gave it an 8 which is a specacular score for a PSP port.

I mean sure everyone go buy Type-0... mainly because I want Type-1 to be a thing.
If your a Nintendo era FF fan though Bravely Default and soon Bravely Second take the cake for 8th gen consoles.

FF type 0? What is it? Is that the game that comes along with ffxv 's demo?

Yeah it's completely free with the FFXV Demo, a bargain really.

"If you are a fan of traditional Final Fantasy". Point 2 says "Combat is not traditional..."

Hmm, pie.

Does difficulty affect achievements?

yea combat and story stucture are not traditional. Everything else is. Its not a mainline FF, so you should not expect the story structure to be. The combat is fun. Combine fun combat with Traditional lore and presentation and world layout and you please most people. Its the 1st FF game I have played since 9 that really captures many of the old school elements for me.

I think it's nice that they added a game with the paid demo, may as well have a look at it

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Random encounters? Oh gosh, who still does that shit?

Yeah, I mean seeing the enemy, activating all your buffs before you go in or even just walking around them is so much more fun.

Hmm, pie.
