But if you look at the recent patents that point to a moduler strategy, the 10-12 million numbers make more sense.

Actually, due to my recent duty at work, i found a website with recent Nintendo patents that i see no one talking about - assuming it's not this one.

Please note that it was mentionned that FF7R was "Console debut on PS4" at PSX.

I saw "Play it first on PS4". And still no mention of XBone? It's got to be NX the second platform.

New patents are always interesting, but they don't necessarily mean anything for NX. Nintendo could fill a patent for something that isn't doable right now (either because of technology or because it's too expensive for them) but want to secure it for future platforms.

In any case, the moment Ninendo reveals what is (or are) NX, then we'll be able to tell if those 12 or 20 million devices were true or not.

What games and/or features would make you all buy NX day one?

Any three/four of the following at launch or in the NX's first two months would have me pre-ordering my NX right now.

-Pokemon Gen VII
-Region-free
-3D Mario (Galaxy/64-esque, NOT 3D World 2)
-Pikmin 4
-Bayonetta 3
-Earthbound 4 (NOT going to happen, sadly, so a Mother 3 localisation or remake will suffice)
-Free online
-FFVII remake
-All previous eShop purchases on Wii U/3DS being transferable
-3rd-party support (ports of Fallout 4, Ni No Kuni, etc would be ideal)

The only sad story for FF VII R is - timed exclusive for PS. Nintendo is the real home of FF series.  and nowadays there shouldn't really be something like timed exclusives.  I just hope that FF VII R, would be atleast on par with the PS version, in terms of graphics, content, etc. (maybe having NX having on par with PS4).

Imagine adding Amiibos to FF VII R characters, it would sell a ton. Additional money to SE and Nintendo - $$$$$. That could really push that version a bit better than PS, hopefully they already have that idea.

I'm saying that it could have additional content with Amiibo unlocks for NX.  Wont bet that it would sell more than PS4 since PS4 already have a good installbase to begin with.  

ah ok the push part in your cooment was a bit confusing to me.

After seeing that gameplay video of the FF VII remake I lost all interest in the game and wouldn't mind if it skips the NX, I'd rather have Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna ported. As to what games/features would make me buy one in the first months:

- Region Free and the use of physical media for games, be it cartridges or blu-ray, I'm not buying it if it goes digital only
- It needs to keep the Online service free.
- As for games, I always need the announcement of at least 8 games that interest me to buy a console, so: Pikmin 4, new 3D Mario, new Wonderful 101, Dragon Quest XI, Fire Emblem console game, a new Advance Wars (it's the only game that my 3DS is missing) , a true Metroid game (not like Prime) and I would like another Kid Icarus game.
