Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony and Nintendo need to announce something big at E3

So we've heard the official news that Sony's Uncharted is going to take some time off to gain some polish. As for Nintendo, the major titles we have left to expect from them are Zelda and X (which X will be highly underrated in reception). The question is how will they do going up against Microsofts titles in Rise of the Tomb Raider, Halo 5, Forza 6 and possibly Quantum Break among other announced games which haven't found homes for the final dates. I'm calling Gears of War 4 for a 2016 release date at E3, so Sony and Nintendo really have to start trying to outmaneuver Microsoft. Uncharted so far is looking lonely for 2016 and dominating whatever timeslot it gets. Now would be a great time for Sony to officially announce God fo War 4 and the new upcoming IP's from Guerilla and other first party. What do you guys think?

Star Fox release date
Zelda Release date
Xenoblade Release date(i'm not sure they announced that)

Ideal world:

Xenoblade - august
Star fox - september
Zelda - October
November - bundles
December - bundles

Nintendo needs a massive E3 because the public now think they're bringing their games to smartphones. Click bait headlines all over facebook at the moment are spreading the wrong impression. E3 being the most public gaming event they need to show that they are not leaving hardware in a big way IMO.

Sony doesn't have to do anything at this point, they don't need games to sell the PS4.

Hmm, regardless of what Ninten and Sony do, I think Sony will continue to do well, and they will have plenty to cover at E3. Sony is usually covered in spades when it comes to announcements. So Sony is probably fine.

Ninten also can`t do much either. No matter what announcements they make (unless a console announcement) likely won`t sway those outside of Ninten fans. Regardless of what they do, Ninten will probably drag along like usual. But I do hope they announce for goodies in the near future, and put on an awesome show like last year. I`m hoping for Fatal Frame 5 and finally the announcement of SMT x FE. Some new game announcements would be nice.

Also, the title could use a `do` in it. I thought I should point that out.

Sony might not need anymore hype than they already have, but if people know that more games are coming with a price cut it would be over before the battle even got to the good part.

I'm expecting Nintendo's E3 reveals for Wii U to be relatively modest; nothing massive on the level of open world HD Zelda, but rather lower key stuff on the level of Yoshi's Woolly World, Captain Toad, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse. If I had to guess, I'd put my money on Diddy Kong racing 2 by Retro.

As for Sony, I don't think they have anything to worry about. Their momentum is so strong, they could ride the year out on multiplats alone. Heck, if they announced tomorrow that they've decided to adopt the same DRM Microsoft was castrated for proposing in 2013, I reckon gamers would roll with it.

Yep. A lot of games are getting pushed back. Don't be surprised if Star Fox gets pushed back. Im getting my Wii U when Star Fox drops. Thats my favorite Nintendo game (well not that Microsoft owns Killer Instinct LAWL)

Nintendo will probably do what they have been doing for past E3s; they probably will have a digital event and will showcase their games with Treehouse or the like. I think that this model is perfectly fine and they will definitely be in the spotlight now since they will also announce games for the mobile market as well.

As for Sony, their events are fine as well and with that good lineup, I don't really think that need to bank on something really big at E3. That's because the people so call say a company that 'wins' E3 is basically irrelevant.

Very true, but at E3 its when the most hype occurs in the gaming world. Gamers who are normally ignorant to most news from the yearly conventions at least hear about one game from E3. Nintendo has won E3 before and they can do it again. The Wii U might not sell amazing numbers, but at least it will have a more competitive year because seriously...they lack the third party. Everything is coming down to the exclusives.
