Nintendo is the stealth king (except for snake) so basically Nintendo is trolling everyone, their stock rises and they make everyone believe they do what others want them to do and that is going mobile..but in reality mobile is going Nintendo.

step 1 happening right now

nintendo brings some of their ip to smart devices and simultaneously release those game on their consoles in hope for a big bang.

step 2 (everything worked out well)

Nintendo works with more smartphone delevopers and convince them to go Nintendo because it worked so well for both parties in the past

step 3

Nintendo owns/shares and buys a lot of the best developers and owns a bunch of new IP

step 4

a new breed of  Nintendo consoles/handhelds is born you can play from far away from whatever on whatever system you want,stream,watch and have a physical copy of your game and everything from pc to mobile/tablets all will be playable on Nintendo X(treme).

If I see 10 Nintendo-DeNA made games on the top 10 of top free games...........that's a domination in itself.
If it stays for that long and not drop as usual games on phones do......wow.

And everything feeds into NX.

They bought a Japanese company because they can control that market. It's smaller, and easier for japanese devs to understand their taste.

Agreed with op. No ones saying it, but its true.

 

And btw, 10% ownership allows then just the right amount of board influence, but its not a large investment in them either. This a Rare (the company, and the word) moment.

What I understood from the conference was that while they'll be bringing some of their ip to smart devices, they will not be releasing the same games simultaneously on both smart and console. The games destined for smart devices will be developed separately and will be different from those destined for the console.
