Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Q3 Profit Higher Than Estimated

Their last report was pretty good too if I remember right. Looks like they've trimmed the fat and are mostly profitable now. I wonder if TVs are finally going to turn around.

Very good news. This should be under Sony discussion. Can mods move it?

lol. its virtually unchanged from the actual quarter release...

Ok dude Sony is still in a very bad shape, we get that, and we also get that u don't like Sony.

You're right a 2% adjustment to the numbers we already knew a month ago is fucking amazing...

Perhaps you care to read what I actually say in the thread ( http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=199824&page=1# ) and elsewhere recently before going on the knee jerk attack.

I dont think sony is in very bad shape still... otherwise I wouldnt have bought stock and advised everyone else here to do the same MONTHS ago.

the numbers were good a month ago, so this makes them even better. And 2% is a big deal when it come to meeting or exceeding projections.

Nice to see Sony finally finding its groove. Its mobile business is still iffy, though. While I like their phones, I don't see Sony being in the smartphone business for the long run. The company's investment on camera sensors was a good idea.

and kaz has pushed gaming as a pillar of the company.  It's the first time a huge corporation with so many branches has been helmed by a man whose roots are in gaming and their game division.  That's why we're seeing so much support for Playstation from the TV and film divisions.

Huh?  When will this nonsense stop?

PROFITS by division (yen for the Q3):

Devices: 54.5bn

Financial: 50.9bn

Game&NS: 27.6bn

Music: 25.4bn

HE&S: 25.3bn

Mobile: 9.3bn

Pictures: 6.2bn

So Gaming represents about 13% of its profits...

Had Kaz not forced the Reorg, PS4's success or no, Sony would still be on very shaky ground.

We are close to end year numbers, let's see what it will look like.

I think it will be an over all substantial loss, due to write downs, but a decent operating profit. That is to say largely unchanged from earlier estimates. A nice boost from gaming right in the final 2 weeks of the year.

I expect results within 2-5% deviation from forecast/projection/estimated year results. The situation is slowly improving.
