Forums - Sales Discussion - Can the XB1 take back the US crown?

I'm not one for thinking Sony will drop the price of the PS4 but if they DO, then dropping it by $100 during the Halo/Tombraider window would probably wipe out any advantages MS have. Then when the price eventually goes back up again, raise it by $50. Release the slim when Uncharted: A Thief's End launches and lower it permanently by $50.

That's what I would do IF a price cut is on the cards.

But for what reasons do you think the XB1 will sell better in the US?

So, after trying almost everything, what can Microsoft really do to take command of the US market?  Or is it even possible?

Minecraft 2?

I thought of that, but the NEW Microsoft isn't about limiting the potential of their products to their own ecosystem.  Having watched them release full versions of office on Both IOS and Android tells me that doing Minecraft 2 on just XBox would be a disaster.  It's one of the top selling games on all the other ecosystems.

It is near the end of the end....

i actually thought it did have a shot at it this yr when uch4 was delayed was going to make my i believe threads that it would surpass ps4s us total by yrs end but then npd feb was announced and dayum thought it would be 20-40k difference unless npd was doing stealth adjustments MS has its work cut out for it

its only got a shot at it in the early part of the gen i think when the ps4 goes to 299 in a yr or 2 it will have no chance so it has to get it done now just to claim that it was above us npd totals at some point

The problem is that Xbox One only does extremely well around the holiday season. By the time September begins the gap will be 1+ million. Theres no way Halo 5 will make that difference go away. No amount of deals can save them all year round, not to mention Sony still hasn't dropped the official price of PS4

Because the 360 sold better in the US than PS3 and it is currently only about 600k under the PS4 in the US and Halo hasn't even hit yet.

Are you expecting the gap to remain 600k (thought it was 700k) for the rest of the year? I'm expecting the gap to be between 1.2m - 1.5m by the end of the year. Even if MS reduce that lead yet again, the following year the gap will likely stretch to 1.5m - 1.8m. I reckon that's how this generation will go.

It has a good shot to do so. If last November was any indication, should the Xbox One match the sales or even surpass them, then taking back the US could happen. However, keeping within line of the PS4 sales from Jan- October is just as important. Should Microsoft achieve this, the One has the ability to do so. Otherwise, if it cannot keep competitive with the PS4 in those months, then it will be very difficult to achieve; even with 'Galaxy Busting' November months.

Maybe when if they drop down to $299.99 AND redesign the console ala PS3 slim. More than anything, that whole system needs a redesign. It needs at least 1TB REMOVABLE storage. It needs to be half the size. Ditch the HDMI in... maybe even redesign the controller like they did the original Xbox.

Xbox One can win the US, but it's going to take aggression and I don't see that in MS right now. Not enough anyway.

Never.

Last christmas was the last chance for the Xone do dominate the ps4 and change the momentum, now it's pretty much lost for them.

They don't need to fight anymore, they should just try to not lost tons of money for nothing.
