Forums - Sales Discussion - Can the XB1 take back the US crown?

I think it's going to be unlikely. I think what is going to happen for the remainder of the gen is xb1 winning November and December and then Sony spending January - October wiping away what ground xb1 gained and then some. Rinse and repeat.

Thanks jlmurph!

We will know by this time next year.

X1 will win Nov and Dec next year thanks to Halo and aggressive bundling. If they are still leading sales in the first three months of 2016 then that should mean they will win US this gen. If not, then it is done. If Halo doesn't make a difference, nothing will.

Sure! They just need to turn on the cloud power, you know over 300.000 servers are ready (since 2013). ^,^

But the CLOUD POWER will do ?!

Honestly... no. It can't. even with a super bundle, 10 Halo game's, and a massive price drop.
Seriusly guy's, how can?
XBO cost less than PS4
XBO have more exclusive's than PS4
RESULT
PS4>XBO
Yeah, another good exclusive's will released for XBO, as Halo 5, Quantum Break, and Gears that is absolutely my favourite TPS game's, even for PS4 will released the game's! Uncharted? Gran Turismo? God of War? and when Sony will make a Price drop for PS4???????????????????
Damn, maybe in the holiday's MS can sell more, but fuck, the holidays IS NOT the year!!!

Maybe a 1% of probabily for XBO to back above PS4 in US, but... you know.

1. Build a time machine
2. Go back before this infamous E3 conference
3. Rethink the strategy and understand gamers. Used games are a critical point. I sell 1 or 2 games and buy a new one. The strategy with "no used games" or "Kinect always on" scared people away, made them laugh and say "Hey, why not the PS4? They don´t try to take my money and make a fool out of me".
4. Make better hardware that is similar to PS4
5. Invest in new IPs. No, no one cares about Fable anymore, not many will buy Halo Remake and the brand new Halo 14 or 15.

I think Microsoft is no longer interested so for consoles. They said that that want to focus more on PC and other windows stuff in the next few years. Many players know this.

How will many players know what you think? Seriously, they even want to transport the Xbox name to PC. How anyone can get the idea they are no longer interested in consoles is beyond me.

Wait a minute.  I forgot about the cloud power...  Now the XB1 will dominate when we put that into consideration.

It is near the end of the end....

Wouldn't it be awesome if X1 gets beaten by PS4 in the Halo month?

Well, XBO is selling better than 360 so far, unless I'm mistaken? I'm pretty sure it's very similar at the very least. So technically they're not doing worse. You could say that it mostly has to do with Sony not releasing a machine that's very offputting to gamers (at least for the first few years) this time around.

I agree, the XB1 is selling better thatn the 360.  But, I think that it is common for people to compare sales from 8 years ago and say that it is OK to match or slightly beat them.  Unfortunately, in todays marketplace, you are failing if you don't increase sales significantly each generation - especially with a product with such a long sales cycle.

The truth from my perspective is that the XB1 is selling OK.  It would really only need to sell about 25% beeter to be doing good to really good.  But, if your competition is selling way better, you have to do what it takes to keep up.  TH problem for Microsoft is - can they really do anything less than another price drop to change things?

So far yes, though I don't expect that to hold. The Xbox Ones success so far has been based almost soley on MS throwing everything they have into the holidays. If Sony plays to win this holiday than that will torpedo the Ones entire year.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
