Forums - Sales Discussion - I thought Call of Duty was dying?

black ops 3 will sell near black ops 2 levels, and i really hope it's next gen only, including wii u. that game will sell consoles if it's next gen only.

I think they are still going to make the X360/PS3 versions of the game since AW still selling well there but I don't think they are going to make a WiiU version anymore. However I believe the next COD after BO3 will be current gen only.

One of the reason why journalist give COD inflated scores is because they believe that COD sells consoles, More specifically Xbox consoles (but that is really besides the point). They believe that COD makes it possible for the industry to grow because if COD is the mass market hook for video games. And the greater good is the fact that it allows other games to sell more.

Ghost was a bad game. AW is actually really fun.

Too bad AW is extremely unbalanced and has the worst lag comp of any game in the franchise. I ended giving my copy to my brother.

I would just like to ask something slightly off-topic. Regarding the PC sales of this (and every other games), are the digital sales counted for? In my mind the majority of the PC sales should be digital by today. I, myself, have not bought a single PC game at retail since the beginning of 2000. I buy all my games online, and mainly from Steam today.

It died on nintendo platforms.

Maybe if they stop caring about marketing (never will happen), the serie will die really soon.

Edit: almost dead on PC

Regardless of how I feel about the franchise, it should be pretty obvious to everyone that the only way the CoD franchise dies, is when Activision stops making them, and nobody ever picks up the license. It has too many fans who buy it on name recognition alone (and are usually pleased).

I doubt if they release on 8 gen only they will repeat these numbers

It's sad but true. It will take a next gen only cod before my interest returns. Or a cod4/Mw2 remake.

I need to play Ghosts and advanced Warfare but I'm not paying for them. Waiting for my friend to loan them.

it certainly is declining, but its not dying. i can see this years CoD be bigger than the last two. specially since it will most likely be Black Ops 3

Actually the whole point of my OP was to show it is really not in much of a decline(10% tops from peak 4 years ago). Stagnated? Yes. But its hard to hate a game for stagnated between 25-30 million each year.

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

Like others have said, Ghost sucked and Advanced Warfare is actually good.
