Anyways, just to say something relevant to the topic. I'm having a good time with Type-0 HD, much more fun than I expected. There are a lot of things that I can criticize but I expected as much, it is a Psp game afterall. Type-1 with improvements would be more than welcome.

Hyped about it, after all I'm looking forward to type-0 for months while ff15 is just meh to me.

A BIG problem. Seriously, you would need a Panadol tablet after each gaming session. No kidding.

Oh, I still think that... for mainline games. For spinoffs I couldn't care less what the battle system is. I do actually like action RPGs (some at least) so yeah...


I'm sorry but this line of thinking is total nonsense for FF. I would understand where you're coming from if it had a continuous story like other franchises, but aside from the few direct sequel (X-2, and such) the "mainline" games in FF have nothing to do with each other. They are all "spin off" games

Basic gameplay is the same though, or at least was.

So what? If basic gameplay being the same was the key ingredient to something being a mainline entry in a series or a spin off then would that make Halo ODST or Gears of War Judgement mainline games in their franchises? Does that make other turn based JRPGs mainline FF games? Is Fallout 3 a mainline Elder Scrolls game?

There is no such thing as a mainline FF game. There's the ones with big production values and budgets that get a number because....well that's just what they do to get more attention, and then there's the smaller ones that don't get a number cus they're not big time enough. None of them have any meaningful connection to one another
