Forums - Sales Discussion - Fact: The Wii U will sell more than the GameCube (im back and its still a fact)

I hope so. I have a lot of bets riding on the Wii U...

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

It will not outsell the gamecube, nothing else needs to be said.

Why hasn't VGC updated Dreamcast numbers to 10.6 million yet? Do they not want people to know Wii U has yet to surpass that console?

No idea. The archive hasn't even updated the PS4 sales to 20.2 million yet.

They only update the full numbers when global sales are released. Dreamcast has been incorrect for the longest of times

I'll be surprised if Wii U isn't a few million from 20 mil by year's end.

bet: lost

Fact: It's more than 4 million behind the GameCube at the same point in their life cycles and that gap is widening every month, not shrinking.

Fact:The most of the gap is in NA,the gap in Japan and Europe is quite small, another fact, two big consecutive price drops in its first two years,13m fast sold in these two years because of the price cuts, that's the 60% of its lt sales,4m in the third year...Wii u wii likely sell 4m this year without a price cut but with a big price cut it will close the gap dramatically...

The gap now isn't growing as you say,gc tanked in its third year and sold 4m as it had sold fast 13m in its  first two years because of the two sequential big price cuts and the price drop effect curtailed in its 3rd year...

So till wii u  gets its first real price cut anyone who rules out, especially with a disgusting certainty, the possibity of it outselling gc is hasty...

If a few means 5+, then I agree.

I mean that it will only be around 5 million away from 20 million. Maybe even less, if Nintendo markets their games like they did last year with MK8 and friends.

I think Wii U has a chance at 100 Million...HAHA! Just kidding. But seriously, it has a chance at 20M or below. Unless Wii U starts sending out electron waves that destroy PS4 and Xbone and their games(and our cells) Wii U won't get very far. It'll try and get Nintendo some profit which it's upcoming games can do but it won't get much past gamecube or much below gamecube.

The Gamecube was a powerhouse in its day and at a great price but suffered due to childish image that didn't appeal to a more mature crowd and hardcore gamers. The wii u has incredibly weak performance and an inflated price. It's gpu is only marginally more powerful than ps3/360 and its cpu performance a lot worse. The wii u already performs badly and is under pressure in performance terms from quite humble android devices.

Most games actually run better on ps3 or 360 than wii u and thats only the few games that can be compared due to the wii u's small catalogue of games.

I'm just making the point that the wii u is far less competitive compared to the opposition than the Gamecube was in its day.

I think wii u sales will drop off faster because the hardware is so uncompetitive. It's the type of hardware that needs to create a large install base early in its life and create a large software base. In the absence of that I feel Nintendo will struggle to keep sales at the same level unless they price cut and even after a price cut I feel it will still drop in sales.

I'm a wii u owner myself but the reality is the wii u isn't a very good console, it has weak performance and a poor controller. It's only saving grace is Nintendo's brilliant games.

I predict 2-3 million sold this year and sub 2 million next year.

You bet on a console that can outsold by Vita in certain weeks?
