http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-31858156

Fantasy author Sir Terry Pratchett has died aged 66, having had Alzheimer's disease for eight years.

"The world has lost one of its brightest, sharpest minds," said Larry Finlay of his publishing company, Transworld.

Best known for the Discworld series, Sir Terry wrote more than 70 books over his lengthy career.

He was first diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2007, but continued writing, completing his final book last summer.

The author died at home "with his cat sleeping on his bed, surrounded by his family," Mr Finlay said.

Bit of sad news.

A bit of sad news? It's incredibly depressing; though we knew it was coming.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

A truely great writer. RIP.

Hmm, pie.

Rest in piece, Terry!

Such a great comedic writer. R.I.P.

Awesome collection, is that complete?

I think I have all but 1 of the main discworld series, and a smattering of other stories (going to start The Long Mars as soon as I have finished Game of Thrones)

I read something about him a couple of week ago. R.I.P. Terry your words will forever be remembered in your books.

Define "complete" ;)

I have all his books, but many of them only in German and many of them only in English, only a few in both languages. Many of them are only paperbacks, I want them all as hardcover in both languages some day.

I have all 3 adventure games (Discworld 1, Missing Presumed and Discworld Noir), but only the PC versions and not all of them in undamaged "big boxes". A rerelease of the PlayStation versions for Vita + PS4 with support of the touchscreen / DS4-touchpad would be great... "Discworld Trilogy Remastered".

A blu-ray-box with all discworld-based movies (Weird Sisters, Soul Music, Hogfather, The Color of Magic, Going Postal) would also be great, the older ones I have only on DVD.

Very nice, by complete I meant at least one of all his books, so that's a yes.

I'm not really a collector of anything physical like that though so I'm not fussy about owning hard-cover versions. Though I would have liked my discworld collection to be all the same edition/publisher so it looks nicer on my shelf... as it is most of mine are a mix of 3 different Corgi sets and a couple by other publishers, while Unseen Academicals & Raising Steam are hardcover by Doubleday.
