Go Majora's Mask!

i think it will perform better than OoT on the 3DS. surprising considering people like OoT better.

I actually think its expected because fewer people have played MM, yet it has this cult following. Also where it landed in the 3DS life helped a bit too ;)

PS4 fter the adjustment is still dropped 180k in January (less than 150,000 in a week).
People can eat crow...

Any way, still amazing sales for PS4!

20.2 million for PS4. VGC tracking spot on

What happened to WiiU, it's dropping like a rock?

i was wondering the same. with china launch coming and some big releases in japan the vita might maintain it's lead or even increase it over the wii u.

Mario party, X and splatoon will have so much fun :)

Good gravy Wii U. What happened?

Are you looking at the same numbers as I am? Because the numbers I'm looking at seem pretty decent for the Wii U, I mean, at least it beat the Vi- oh wait...

Yup I agree. The WiiU wasn't trying to compete with the 7th gen systems. But considering its specs it made it impossible to comoee with the 8th gen systems. Nintendo's horse in the 8th gen race was technically a 7th gen console.

But yh, if Nintendo is smart, they should make a new console for 2016 that is at least more powerful than the PS4. But not only do I not think they can do that but I also feel it would do more damage to their brand than riding this gen out and that they also wont get third party support. cause then they will be making a proper 8th gen console to compete with consoles that would already have a 50M+ lead on them. Not a single third party dev will give them a second look.

Again, I don't think that's the case. The Wii U, who wasn't even competing with gen 7 and released 2 years too late, got a bunch of gen 7 ports. And those had a 180m+ lead. A successor explicitely competing with gen 8 in power and releasing in a timely manner should have no issue getting some 3rd party strictly on the basis of similar hardware. I also think that the fusion model renders most of that inconsequencial anyway.

2016 is a terrible date. PS4 and X1 will get a lot of software in 2015 and 2016 will probably be their hottest year, maybe even their peak. A new console would be crushed by that: people won't be ready to upgrade from their previous consoles after 3 years. Just making people upgrade from Wii U isn't enough since it won't do more thna 20M lifetime, so it's a tiny share.

Releasing so early would create a Dreamcast. Sega launched a console that collided with a PS1 that had a lot of games and had amazing releases in 98/99/2000. When the PS2 arrived, just its hype killed the DC. That's what Nintendo would end up. Releasing a console that would flop even harder and then get a killing blow with the next Sony/MS devices and ending up out of the race in another gen.

They screwed their release pipeline with the Wii. Weak hardware, weak legs. The Wii U made things worse. They have to fix their schedule and align with the launch of PS5/Xnext. The best strategy is to hold up this gen and get the next one right.

Lol, exactly 20.2M on front page. Wonder where they got that number :P

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

And wow 180k for 3DS!!!
Hope is not overtrcked.

Marketshare for 2015 in the U.S. is as follows,

PS4: 45.87%
X1: 36.63%
WiiU: 17.50%

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

That's not right...? The PS4 sold 671,600 units in January, that's 167k a week. You must be counting the week of January 3rd in your numbers, but VGC counts them as December, othewise january sales would have been wwwwaaaaayyyy higher.
