Forums - Movies & TV - would you pay $3,500 for a years worth of movies?

no, am i right?!?

this weekend my stupid wife was all like, "let's go see the sponge bob movie with the kid" and i was all like, "bitch please,.. the movie cost $17 per adult and $14 for the kid and the movie is only a hour twenty three minutes long.  you crazy?!".  let's do the math:  17+17+14 is $48 to go to the movie which comes out to $34.70 an hour for me to spend time with my family and like i ever get to see the movie again.  fucking ridiculous, am i right?  and it's not a one time thing, she wants to go out like every fucking weekend.  i'll bet we see like 100 hours of movies a year in the theater.  i'm not paying netflix a whooping $9 bucks a month for nothing.   i tell her,. any family activity that cost more than $0.30 a day is just too much when netflix is so cheap.  maybe we can go to the park or something instead.  i'm just so tired of her fighting me on this issue.

long story short,. daddy bought himself some beer and i let my kid play with the box but now my wife is pissed.  women,.. am i right?

For a moment I thought kaizar returned. Lol. And my answer is, you are still high.

And the cinema industry complains about high levels of piracy, when a ticket to the cinema can cost more than 8€/ person. A family of four will pay more than 36€ for one movie, with that money I'm sure you can get a lot of digital services for wayyyy more.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I wouldn't pay for that either. Especially because there are a few bad movies that comes out from time to time. I'm not going to support that kind of movie.

$17 for an adult ticket? Holy shit! Last Saturday I paid $6.75 to see Kingsman. Hell, I spent $1.03 on a Twix inside the cinema.

I have the same deal . . . If you don't mind me asking whereabouts do you live in Canada?

Money doesn't grow on trees, but some women never learn this concept (keyword: SOME). $50 for 2 hours of entertainment is bullshit. Sounds like you made a wise decision. Daddy's happy (beer), kid is happy (box), family saves money, wife is pissed. That's 3 pluses, 1 minus (although a big minus).

Sometimes you gotta do what's best for the family. :)

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

I rarely go to the movies for anything other than marvel movies. I watch maybe 5 to 7 in a year. It's just...gaming is so much more fun!
