Forums - Gaming Discussion - Visceral re-affirms Battlefield Hardline as 900p on PS4, 720p on XB1

So, how long before the XBO gets its first sub-HD game, and will the PS4 follow?

The power of AMD!

Also the power of making fucking cheap consoles.

Blaming AMD? Hilarious when they still have the world's fastest single card crown with the 295X2.

From a technological point of view, it was possible to have an FX8350 @ 4.5Ghz and dual HD7970 Ghz cards to make up the console. However, form factor, profitability and price would all suffer. It's just common sense that when single high end flagships use 250-280W of power (780Ti/7970Ghz/290X), you were never going to have any console with a flagship PC gaming card. Since it wasn't possible to manufacture a 980M Maxwell around June 2013, which is when they would have needed to start manufacturing for launch, Sony/MS went with consoles that cost nearly $400 to make because neither company's shareholders were OK anymore will selling an $800+ console for $500 and losing billions of dollars as was the case for PS3.

Look if you just want the best graphics, 4K gaming, no one stops a PS4/XB1 gamer to build a 5960X with Triple Titan Xs. Bitching and moaning how a $350 XB1 and a $400 PS4 can't run the latest games at 1080p @ 60 FPS is getting old. Besides BF games were always best played on the PC.

Except my 4 year old PC with midrange graphics cards plays these games at 1080p & 60fps. These consoles are unacceptably weak. The only thing they have going for them is their exclusives, and they've been pretty weak so far.

Ok, i'll keep that in mind while not playing it.

You know why it's getting old? Because it was a shitty idea to make cheap consoles from the beginning.

And as much as I'd like I can't build a stronger PS4 or X1. If Sony and MS want their exclusive games to run shitty then there's sadly nothing I can do about this except for bitching and moaning. Which is what I'm gonna do until the end of this gen or until they build a proper console.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

And that's why PC gamers buy consoles for exclusives, or for multi-player / sports games with friends. Why don't I start bitching that I can't play Bayonetta 2 or Uncharted 4 or Gran Turismo 6 on my PC? Everyone knows if you care the most about performance, mods, frame rates, you do NOT buy a console to play most cross-platform games that are also available on the PC. How in the world was this different during PS3/Xbox 360 era? It wasn't. Ever try playing BF3 on PS3 vs. A mid-range PC? PC even had support for 64-player MP.

It's like some of you have been living in denial since Xbox 360/PS3 generation. No game that ever came out for those consoles has better graphics than a 2007 PC Crysis maxed out. BF3 MP was world's inferior on PS3/360 vs. a PC. No one informed buys a PS4 over a PC because of graphics/performance or specifically for BF games. BF games are a staple for high end PC gaming.

Again, the beauty of choices is you can play Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 on PS4 and build yourself a PC with a Core i5 and a $250 R9 290 that will be uber fast for 2560X1440 BF Hardline. When BF5 comes out, it 100% fact that it will be the definitive version on the PC. Why bitch about something which has been true for all BF games ever?

Looks like Xbox One will always get the weaker versions of multiplats

Well, I pretty much doubt this is bad optimization, given Visceral's track record. This means both next-gen consoles have hit their limits. This is going to be the standard from now on.

They need to have them at a particular price point, You obviously have to remember these consoles come with $60 controllers, the hardware alone costs $340 and that is the way they will always be if there are future consoles, the best you can get for the price. They also record all of the gameplay as well which anyone who has done so on their PC does affect performance. They’re fine.
