Most? That's quite the exaggeration. The Dreamcast had an incredible library considering it lasted less than two years on the worldwide market.

Xbox's price was $299.99 and Dreamcast $149.99. For 12 month LIVE $49.99, DC 18 months $396. Refund for $150 cuts price of console and 18 month subscription to $246, with additional keyboard cuts price anywhere from $246-226. Xbox plus one year would be $350. Dreamcast was a better deal and offered 6 more months for a $124 difference versus Xbox package. Month to month was obviously over expensive, but being they were the first service; setting the monthly price was entirely up to them since no competitor had it.

There were only two games I can remember that had online, Phantasy Star Online being the only one really worth playing, so yeah, practically no one paid for online on the Dreamcast. I never owned a Dreamcast but a few of my friends did and none of them paid for online.

There was no outcry. People just didn't subscribe and then Sega went under. Just like they shouldn't subscribe to Sony or Microsoft's services. People are pretty stupid though.

ok i don't remember this, i played online for free on my dreamcast always. Endless hours into phantasy star online and other games.
