Forums - Gaming Discussion - Would you pay $1000 for a 100 hour game?

No, I wouldn't. Simple, The Order isn't worth the 60$. There are other games out there for the same or cheaper price that provide a much longer experience

Good God, this is still around? Messing around in the Realms was like my first real use of the internet, back on crusty old dial-up...

Yes it is :D  Wow...another Realms vet...small world indeed.  Sonja and Maeglin now run it from their home, Khayman's usually online.

I paid $50 for Parasite Eve which was a 6 hour game. Great game is a great game, doesn't matter how long it it is. The length of The Order shouldn't be an issue.

Yeah Parasite Eve kicked ass, really liked that game.

But to be fair that game also had a new game+ and let you bring a weapon from your previous playthrough and included the chrysler building. There was replayability built into it. The order did not do this.

$60 for a 6 to 8 hr game is not that outrageous to me. I grew up in the 8 and 16 bit era when every game was $40 to $70 (yep, I paid $70 for Mortal Kombat II on Genesis in 1994) and you could easily beat many of them in under 3 hours. I'm just saying, things could be worse. A fun game is a fun game no matter how short/long it is.

But I can't comment on the Order, specifically, since I haven't played it yet.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

As someone whose played and replayed that game a ridiculous number of times over the years...NG+ is kind of awful in it. None of the regular enemies will pose any threat whatsoever, and Chrystler building is a boring slog interrupted by the occasional cool boss fight (and a terrible 'true ending' to boot). It's worth doing once, but it was the story and gameplay that kept me coming back to it annually (and not on NG+).

The Chrystler Building was 77 floors, 70 that looked identical with the same few enemies from floor 1 to floor 70.  Bringing your guns over to a new game just let you overpower your weapons and make the game easy mode with a unique gun one shotting everything in the regular game, maybe even ohko the entire enemy party in a single turn with the shoot all and rapid fire skill on an overpowered gun. Just because The Order doesn't have an option for new game plus doesn't mean that you can't replay the game. Again, The Order might be a sh*t game, but its length is not the issue.

Yes?
