Wish I could comment, but don't own 4U.

So do I. If 4U ever gets a WiiU release, then I'll be able to comment.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but it would be awesome if it did.

I wouldn't even be mad that I bought a 3DS to play it, I could buy the console version too and play online co-op with my little brother.

I didn't play MH4U that much but I can safely say it's better.

NO... MORE.... UNDERWATER.... BATTLES!

I honestly don't see what the problem with the water levels is.
They played just fine for me. I actually miss them in 4.

This is hard for me to decide, as I'm not super deep into 4U at this point, but one thing I can say is that I personally prefered the farm in Tri.  Someone else mentioned the cats working on the farm being comical, and I found that to be a charming area of the game and it is missed.  The climbing and mounting is a game changer, but I can't help but wonder if perhaps its made the fights almost "too easy" if there is such a thing in MH.  =p  The in and out connectivity of 4's online aspect kicks the shit out of Tri.

If someone had not tried a MH game before and was on the fence, I'd recommend getting started with 4U as it feels to me to be a much smoother transition into the game than Tri felt.  Perhaps it is because I now have prior MH experience now, but it just seemed much easier to get certain items to forge and upgrade gear right off the start.  That said, I fully believe because of the timesink that is MH, that those hundreds and hundreds of hours are best spent in front of a 50" tv and not on a handheld screen.  /shrug

edit   and I didn't mind the water levels either.  nice to have a different playstyle and environment here and there.

Can someone please tell me how the poll is faring? I don't wanna vote since I haven't played any of the games, but would like to know the result thus far

5 votes for MH3, 25 votes for MH4.

MH4U on the WiiU... oh wait.

MH4U plays better and has a better (although still simple) story with some actual pacing.

But what really annoys me is the lack of voice chat, typing chat during hunts and battery life, which were all better in MH3U.

MH4U is technically the better game, but the absence of the things above hinders some of my enjoyment.

I don't either.  Actually I found fighting underwater quite fun once you get the hang of it.

I can't comment extensively on MH4U though since I've only played the demo.  That being said, it didn't do anything that I found any better than MH3U.
