Forums - Gaming Discussion - David Braben confirms Timed Exclusive for Elite: Dangerous. Will come to PS4 too

Around the Network

Yeah when I first read the news on here I read that it'd be making it's console debut on Xbox One. Then the thread I saw after that said it was console exclusive to Xbox One.

Glad that's clarified.

I dont get the hype. No mans sky has some of my attention. But still space shooters seems like a new trend.

Neither No Mans Sky get my attention yet... looks like a boring game.

But I will finally divide my time with Destiny and Bloodborne soon.

IMO this will get boring after 2-4 hours. In PC people will spice it up with modding. But I would rather play bloodborne instead of these space shooters.

if the game was Star Citizen (HYPE) things will be different, but this game is an empty space, where you have nothing to do, you can't see your ship, you can't go and land on a planet... it is a demo nothing more.

34 years playing games.

This is a somewhat welcome resurgence. 90s had some great space combat/exploration games. This, StarCitizen, No Man's Sky, even actual combat games like Eve Valkyrie or Dreadnaught are seemingly bringing that back. It's market not fully explored. Same effect as Dark Souls had where a good hard games of a certain type filled a hole many gamers had and since the series has done amazing and spawned copy cats too.

Hmm, pie.

Space shooters are a very old trend and this gets hype from old elite fans.

Do you have the game? I'm surprised by your comment because it has a good aggregate score on meta so I assumed it was good?

Star Citizen could potentially come to PS4 as the developers got dev kits but it's still very far away, I heard all of its components will be released by 2018, they're already behind schedule and have had some delays and likely the future modules will fare the same way. Maybe they'll release some modules on PS4 and the ultimate version on PS5.

I don't think this game will be very important on any console-platform. The fans of this game played on PC and will probably do this these days and not buying a console for it. Only a few will have become console-gamers, so I suspect the games sales will be mostly on PC anyway.
