Right? I feel the same. Super Mario 3D world, feels more like a 3D version of "super mario bro's 3" from the snes.

I get thats what they where going for, but its just not the same.

Id much rather have had a new "super mario 64" type of mario game.

I've been saying this since 3D World was announced; it would have moved more hardware and software had it been a true next gen sequel to Mario 64 instead of a 3DS game.

It may not actually be my favorite but I felt it deserved some love

super mario galaxy and yeah its my favorite game of all time

I still dont get the love of SMG2 over SMG1 but thats probably because i never played it..

Not only that but there isn't even online multiplayer for 3D World!

Yeah I loved the "Super mario bro's" on the Snes, and thought id enjoy the "Super Mario 3D world" more than I ended up doing.

The difficulty of the game felt off, sometimes to easy others to hard.
I dislike the time limits too, that really bugged me.

I feel like nintendo fell short or mis understood what made that type of game fun to play.

^ worth a buy. Its better than the first, which is saying something cuz the first is pretty great too.

*shakes fist at nintendo*

"Where is SMG3 for the wii u?"

I'm not really sure this is true.  Super Mario 3D World is an amazing game and I don't think that there were people on the fence for the system who decided not to get it because this wasn't a true 3D Mario successor.  The game scored very highly by critics, has a substantial amount of polish and detail, and provides excellent multiplayer.  More people need to face the music that for many gamers (in particular those lining up to get an XBoxOne and a PS4) platformers and colorful games in general, and specifically Mari games, do not appeal.  We can see it around here the way that many in tis community will reject Nintendo titles without even having played them almost on principle alone.  You're not going to win those folks over with a flashier version of the same thing.

Would the fans be rating it higher and would it be going higher on people's top lists if it were a truly large 3D adventure?  Absolutely. I just maintain that Nintendo's dire straits are not based upon a single game or marketing strategy, but rather the change of the market that's been happening since the PS1 first entered the scene coupled with the mass exodus of blue ocean customers to cheaper, more banal entertainment available on smart phones and tablets.

^ I blame the gamepad.

And the games, absolutely (I dont really care what meta critics say).

I refuse to believe its just "times change".

Nintendo will always have a future, where they make games the way they have been doing (they just havnt been hitting it out of the ballpark).

There are enough families out there, that ll buy them for their kids. Enough teens that ll want one as well, hell even older guys/gals, that might enjoy the nintendo consol and its games.

I'll go with a tie between Zelda Skyward Sword and Xenoblade Chronicles, followed closely by Mario Galaxy.

It doesn't matter if it gets good reviews if it's not the game people want. People wanted a full fledged Mario 3D HD platformer, not a 3DS sequel.

Mario appeals to ALL age groups, even as a colorful 3D platformer. 3D World wouldn't have been so bad if a) It was released after a 3D collectathon Mario was released and b) If it had online multiplayer.

The Wii U is practically dead and Nintendo needs to quit making decisions that further that fact. 3D World, Zelda cel-shaded, no online multiplayer for many games, etc. etc. continue to do this.
