Forums - Sony Discussion - Me and my PlayStation TV

Well, I finally got my PSTV set up this past weekend in which it came in the mail the Monday before.  This isn't s review of the TV itself but moreso its application in my life.

I bought the PSTV w/ DS3, LEGO Movie game voucher, and 8 GB card bundle for just under $73 USD.  Why PSTV?  I'm an ATLUS more specifically a Persona fan.  So when I heard of the ability to play VITA games on a TV, I was hard pressed to not look into the possibility of playing Persona 4 Golden via PSTV.  Now, get this... I own the original Persona 4 for the PS2.  Never got around to playing it.  Then I bought Persona 4 Golden just to have to collect the game.  Then less than a year ago, I bought a PS VITA instead of waiting for a PSTV because of the lack of VITA support.  But now that I'm in my new house with a new HDTV, coming across the $69 PSTV bundle was something I had to jump on especially after missing out on the $50 Amazon deal.  And let me say thatPerson 4 Golden never looked better on my 60" Sony LED (KDL60W630B).  It's finally time to enjoy this RPG before the release of Persona 5.

I'm an old school Final Fantasy fan.  And if there were a Final Fantasy we old schoolers missed out on here in North America was FFIII (Japan) for obvious reasons until recently.  Aside from the DS version, playing FFIII PSP version on a 60" with a Dual Shock 3 downloaded to the PSTV is the most comfortable way to enjoy this game.

And then there are the two PSP Corpse Parties.  I love survival horror, and as you can tell from the last paragraph I love old school RPGs.  Corpse Party is a good hybrid of both.  So like FFIII, playing the corpse parties with a Dual Shock 3 on a 60" HDTV with the lights out is quite emmersive.

I'll be the first to acknowledge that the PSTV overall is a failed product.  But so far, It's been worth my gamble.

It isn't bad at all, outside it would have been amazing if it had Netflix App.

Seriously looking at one for my room so I can play my PS4 games in my room (my PS4 is normally in the basement, with my big tv and such). It's a pretty good deal, I just really wish it had support for things like Netflix...

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I would have got the PSTV if it played all Vita games, since it can't play the games I most wanna play on Vita like Uncharted and Gravity Rush its not worth it for me.

Main achilles heel is that it lacks a lot of the key PSV games like Gravity Rush, but it plays all the RPGs and other stuff I like. So I'm happy with mine.

Yeah persona 4 Golden looks really good on a proper TV, im also happy with my PSTV.

I'm with you there.  I've yet to buy those titles, but not being able to play them on the PSTV is a bummer.  So far, there are like only six compatible VITA titles that I want for the PSTV.  So when the first price drop was announced of the standalone PSTV from $100 to $80, I tried HARD to justify the purchase but couldn't bring myself to buy it.  And other compatible VITA titles I'm interested in has a PS3 counterpart which I'd prefer buying.  I do have Touch My Katamari and the newest Y's which are compatible with a patch on the Asia PSTV.   But I'm still waiting for a patch for North America if it will ever happen. Well, see.

I only have one question: can I use it to play Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3? If yes then PSTV is an automatic buy for me. If no then it can fug the hell off!

You are able to play FF3 on Vita TV? That was the first thing I tried, and the system said it couldn't run the game for some reason. =/
