You seem to be reading things with the intent to inject bias where there is none.

Also to those wondering why these games have been set against each other, it is because all of them have been surrounded in controversy for one reason or another. And that controversy can be fueled or dampened depending on how the game sell. The causes of the controversy are different, but these games have been controversial in a way few games have been this generation. (well aside from SFV and RTR, which are still a long way from releasing).

It's not that i'm "injecting" bias where there is none, it's the way you wrote it that seemed off to me, I honestly can't remember you being there when SO and B2 were out and hoping they'd sell really well, why start now?, it just seems strange, especially given the current siuation with TO.

Unless you have evidence of me hoping for SO and B2 to fail then your comment is totally off base. Why is it necessry for me to have experessed a desire that the games do well in the past? As long as I'm not a demonstrable hypocrit, any lack of comment in the past on whether I think these games deserve good sales is irrelevant. I've certainly predicted that both games would struggle to sell well, but that is just an objective observation of the markets to which those games are selling, not a personal preference or comment on the quality of the games. At most I might see a silver lining to low sales, these games could in theory make their way to PC (a neutral platform in terms of hardware competition). But I've certainly never hoped for low sales for that to become a reality. You really do seem to want to read the worst of motivations into my OP, which is more about you than me. So be it. If everything has to be about the console wars to you then there's nothing more that can be said.

You thought you overpaid for the console even though you got a free game? Makes me wonder, what did you pay for your console?

I dunno, it was with trade-in and some side credit so out of pocket roughly $230. The console is great, Sunset Overdrive though was about 15 years too late.

You mean it's gameplay doesn't fit with what we're getting today? I for one loved Sunset Overdrive, it had a sort of charm to it that many games today lack. By no means was it a perfect game but I liked the different style they went with compared to sticking with the standard.

I'd love to hear more about why you thought it was 15 years too late though.

No that's just you now, keep pressing that attitude, it won't get me to back down like some startled person and say "sorry my bad, sorry my bad".

It's hard to find good in something when you haven't set the balance right, fact of the matter is if you want to go all "observationally objective" Bayo 2 only happened because no one else was going to fund it, sucks that no one else wanted to but Nintendo, fans eneded to nut it up and accept that no one else but Nintendo would fund it, the sales data for both consoles in their prime when bayo first came out were poor compared to today's sales of games exclusive to say the PS4 or even PC and onwards, two last gens combined was poor enough that Sega didn't bother with it and no one else, not even Sony or MS decided to go for it after all that time, it's tough luck for fans but no need to go all dreary about it, no need to write any of that because it's well and truly over and it;s well and truly tough nuts that reality replaces fan fantasy.

let's take a crack at SO, "was a punch in the guts to fans of Ratchet and Clank", how so?, do Sony own Insomniac?, do Insomniac owe Sony fans every shred sweat and work they put out?, I don't see how it's a punch when it's their choice and they decided, again it's another grounded reality that's out of fan control, you decided it to be that way because of how you yourself viewed it, regardless you shared the view or you wouldn't have written it in such a way.

I'm totally aware of the slight good parts you write at the end but my focus was how you had written it, the good parts where you actually talk good of the situation is not the bothering part, the bothering part is how you talk about the first two games being massive kick in the nuts, in a way that it;s permenent, like as if the good you write at the end will every overcome the fact that you feel it's a kick in the nuts, if it didn't you'd have written it differently, you got kick in the nuts for R&C fans and then halfway down you threw in betreyal as if the fans owned a company or were owed, that's not how reality works, they do not owe them anything, if I made a game and had it exclusive and thend ecided I wanted to go eslwhere in the gaming world I will, if the fans think that I owe them or they own me they better get used to how real life works and fast, you're never a special snowflake forever and there's always new venues to go to and more money to make.

See the other last little nit picky part that bothers me is how you came up with this shortly after the crap that went on with the Order, why did this come up after the recent events and not say a month later or 2 months before (estimation like we're doing anyway because that's exactly what this is), in case you haven't noticed there's been oodles of TO threads for days and even weeks, more than other games at this point, it feels like you created this as a way to just tag TO in despite reviews and other reviews telling what the game is like while throwing the other two games in, like someone else said you've thrown in a shooter with a hack n' slash and then you've also got a movie style TP shooter, regarldess of it's "contrivercies" it's still a weird match up, why not just hope all 3 do well and make a thread about how all 3 will sell up to instead of writing up an excuse for the first two games and then throwing in the 3rd obvious choice.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

15 years ago is when everything started going the open world "sandbox" direction (with the release of Mafia and Grand Theft Auto 3) and the push toward cel-shading (Jet Set Radio pretty much being the defacto standard), along with the personality of the game also ringing true for the era. I had an overwhelming sense of deja vu with the game and it ultimately just felt dated (felt like it was imitating Jet Set Radio, THPS and Crazy Taxi for personality, but came off as faking it the entire time.)

At first I sort of got a kick out of it because it felt like a modern day Dreamcast game, but its personality came off as forced, and the gameplay was bland.

So with the first week in The Order is ~90K behind B2's LTD and ~200K behind SO's. A much better start than both games, but SO in particular had good legs through the holidays. And The Order might not have great legs. It should overtake B2 in its 2nd week. It might take a while to over take SO.

The Order 1886 will probably be the first to cross the 1 million number!

The Bitch is back! And better then ever! #BritneyReturns

SONY Bring them BACK for PS4 and VITA!

This comparison makes NO sense. The Order: 1886 has a very big disadvantage here because the reviews are what make people's opinions on a game before it comes out, and The Order: 1886 has far worse reviews than the other two.

Also, despite what people here say, its not as mainstream as the other two games.

the order. it's basically a numbers game. If only 5% of the PS4 user base buys the game it crosses 1M.

What I really wonder though, is how much better/worse would sunset overdrive have sold if insomniac remained Sony exclusive?

If sunset overdrive was playstation exclusive it would probably sell triple what it has.  watchdogs sold almost triple on playstation and insomniac is more playstation orientated so I see no reason why sunset wouldn't.

Chazore it's no different than your favourite game on pc going pc exclusive.  Obviously the vast vast majority of insomniac fans were on playstation.  Insomniac had every right to go on xbox but fans had every right to be dissapointed.
