Forums - Gaming Discussion - Petition : 'Universal Rating System' for METACRITIC.

Do you want a Universal Rating System for Metacritic ?

Yes 22 34.38%

No 21 32.81%

I don't care 21 32.81%

Total:64

What problem would that solve?

Also why would that petition be directed at Metacritic? I doubt they have any influence in how review sites do their reviews. This would have to be implemented by every review site.

Doesn't seem like someone thought this through to the end.

I get what you are trying to do, but I don't think it will change anything. That would cause Metacritic to try to enforce other sites to all use the same rating system, in some cases they are known because of the rating systems they use and people visit them because of that.

Best case scenario everyone complies and it makes no different for ratings of games anyway because they are just critics opinions on games.

Worst case scenario few of the sites comply and Metacritic looses the ability to post these sites scores which deminishes the effectiveness of Metacritic in general and then Metacritic looses traffic and it actually hurts their site.

And I get your point also.

With my Method, or a similar one, you would not have a 20/100 to a Game like Halo4(Quarter to Three); fact is, more and more people think that Metacritic's become a joke lately, with everybody being free to do whatever they want, without any ''quality control''. It's a mess, so why not to improve a bit ? I know it's hard, also for the reasons you mentioned.

Why not start a petition to get those sites removed from Metacritic instead? Wouldnt it solve the same problem without trying to force a system on sites who haven't been doing anything wrong.

Metacritic just averages the scores, they don't assign points anything.. I don't really see the need for having them to force reviewers to change how they assign scores..

eh eh :)      If you ask me, I would ban those reviewers from Meta, when there's evidence they are not serious at all, and believe me, some people really showed 'this evidence' with their ''Reviews''. Or,  some sort of 'Quality Control', before accepting 'garbage' from everybody on the Net.

Honest to god the main problem is that the smaller click-bait websites should not have the same say as established and reputable websites like IGN, GameTrailers, Gamespot, and many more. In fact they should have no say at all.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

That's a good idea.

Love the idea OP.

This is how I review games

- Presentation & Story -
- Design - (Namely level design, menus, controls, sense of progression, balancing and glitch reports... all very important aspects that a lot of reviews just don't touch on IMO)
- Gameplay - Self explanatory. AI is important here too.
- Graphics - Scale, scope and immersion is just as important as pixels and textures.
- Audio - Music, voice acting etc
- Lasting appeal & innovation -

I agree.  And those click-bait websites should have at least very very little influence on the overall average, and even banned if they continue with their rude habit
