Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Predict 3rd party support on next Nintendo home console.

First of all how good was third party support at the beginning for the Wii U?  I've honestly no idea so I'm not in a position to make a prediction for next gen.

I do think that if they don't hit the ground running with next gen 3rd parties it will be even worse than Wii U.  They must have a good start.

Do you guys think Nintendo will get everyone on board or if they'll let 3rd parties be and go it alone?

Feel free to give your thoughts whether it's on next gen home console,  handheld or a hybrid console.

Little to none.

As long as the next console fits with what the 3rd parties want, sells well, and gets good marketing, 3rd party may be better. And some communication/partnering with them too would be helpful.

But what if all 3rd parties play the wait and see game.  The console won't sell enough with just nintendo to entice them and it they might not get the support unless it does. It's a vicious cycle they're in.

If 3rd parties having been supporting them properly since the wiis boom years I just don't see it.  The more I think about it the more I think the hybrid is the best option.

I guess Ninten would have to cater to them, which doesn`t seem like something they normally do. I guess it just depends if Ninten`s next console has something that really appeals to people or not, whether 3rd party will support them.

if with their next system they manage to integrate a cross system thing merging their handhelds and consoles, then they will have amazing 3rd party support. think of it this way- currently the 3DS has awesome overall 3rd party support. The Wii U very mediocre, however I think a lot of that can be blamed for the risky attempts with the tablet controller and maybe some ill will from the Wii generation

so it's a toss up

like I say, if their next system connects handhelds and consoles to some degree then without a doubt they will acquire a huge number of the third party developers support as many companies get some nice sales from the Nintendo handhelds. if it is just another seperated individual thing (handhelds and consoles) then I am not certain and it probably won't be the case

too early to say. the software developers will decide once they see how difficult (or easy) it is to work with the specs and platform so obviously it's quite difficult to say this early

Ubisoft, EA, ActiVision, Sega, Capcom.
The rest, i doubt.

It all depends on 3 things; console sales, console's main demographic, and hardware.

I'm now filled with determination.

I believe they will go with a unified approach where all games are playable on either the handheld or console so it will have great Japanese 3rd party support, indie support, and child-friendly Western support. AAA western support probably won't appear much.
